history

SuS Northeim

The oldest parent club of today's Eintracht is the Club Spiel und Sport Northeim , or SuS Northeim for short , which was founded on May 29, 1907 by students from the Corvinianum high school . With the word “club” the founders wanted to express the upscale etiquette of the members. In 1920, 1928 and 1931 SuS rose to the top division for one year. On July 28, 1933, the club was part of the large club SC Northeim , which was called Sportfreunde Northeim after the end of World War II . SuS Northeim was re-established on September 7, 1948.

In 1949 SuS was one of the founding members of the Amateur League 5 , in which the team regularly fought against relegation. After relegation in 1954 and a short return between 1959 and 1961, he was promoted again in 1963 and qualified as fifth for the newly created Association League South . In the North German cup could pupils with the FC St. Pauli and the VfV Hildesheim two third division off and lost in the first round of the DFB Cup the Bundesliga Meidericher SV only slightly by an own goal with 0:. 1

In the 1964/65 season SuS was champion of the Association League South and made the leap into the Lower Saxony State League in the following round of promotion . There SuS shuttled between mediocrity and relegation battle and had to return to the association league in 1971 after a 3-0 defeat in the decider against VfB Peine . There the team failed several times to return to the Upper House of Lower Saxony. In 1979 I was lucky enough to qualify for the Landesliga Ost . Three years later, the team strengthened with some ex-professionals from 1. SC Göttingen 05 should make the promotion. The leap in class was lost in the top game against SVG Einbeck by a 1: 1. The Northeimer missed a penalty in front of 3,500 spectators . SuS played in the midfield of the Braunschweig regional league for a few years before relegation to the regional league in 1989. Then it went up to the highest class of the Braunschweig district again, but only until the 1991/92 season because this last season as SuS Northeim ended with another relegation to the district league.

VfB Northeim

In contrast to the middle-class SuS, VfB Northeim was anchored in the proletariat and for decades it was the SuS's greatest rival. On July 28, 1933, under pressure from the local party office , VfB merged with SuS and the Northeim swimming club in the large club SC Northeim . After the end of the Second World War, the club was called Sportfreunde Northeim , which in 1951 became VfB. Also in 1951, VfB made it to the Amateur League 5 for the first time , but had to relegate straight away. It was not until 1963 that the club reappeared in higher leagues and in 1964 immediately became champions of the Verbandsliga Süd . In the following round of promotion to the Lower Saxony state league , VfB failed at TSV Helmstedt , TuS Lingen and Wolfenbütteler SV . Financial problems caused a sporty decline.

Eintracht Northeim

The new club started in the district league and made it to the Braunschweig regional league in 1994 . Five years later, he was promoted to the Lower Saxony League East , where with the help of regional league players, the march through to the Oberliga should succeed. As penultimate in the table, Eintracht had to relegate immediately. It was not until 2002 that they were promoted to the Upper House of Lower Saxony, where the team fought again against relegation. In 2004 the relegation only succeeded because the champions TSV Neuenkirchen withdrew from the league. A year later the athletic descent followed, which was followed by the immediate resurgence.

In the 2007/08 season, Eintracht was runner-up behind MTV Gifhorn in the Lower Saxony League East and thus rose to the number one sporting position in southern Lower Saxony. In 2010 he qualified for the single-track Oberliga Niedersachsen. As the fifth from bottom of the 2010/11 season , Eintracht had to leave the league again and relegate to the Braunschweig regional league. Only three years later, in the 2013/14 season, he was promoted to the Lower Saxony Oberliga. Immediately after the promotion, the team of coach Wolfgang Schmidt reached the 5th place in the table in the 2014/15 season. In the same season, the reserve team was able to win the district league title and rise to the Braunschweig district league (season 4).

Two years later , the Northeim runners-up behind SSV Jeddeloh and qualified for the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nord . There the harmony failed because of Altona 93 and Eutin 08 . In the 2018/19 season , the Northeimers were again runner-up, this time behind the Hannoversche SC . In the relegation to the regional league, Eintracht failed at the Lüneburg SK Hansa . After a moderate sporting performance in the middle of the 2019/20 season , the club parted with its coach Simon Schneegans , who had been coach since the beginning of the season .

The stadium was completed in 1935 and renovated in 1995. It offers space for 4,000 spectators and has 500 covered seats.
