Hendrik Weydandt (born July 16, 1995 in Gehrden ) is a German football player . In his youth, Weydandt never played in a youth training center and was an amateur in his first years in the men's field alongside his studies . He rose with various clubs from the district league , through the upper league to the regional league , and after moving to Hannover 96 at the age of 23, he became a professional and Bundesliga player .

Career

Weydandt in amateur football

Weydandt never played football professionally in his youth. At the age of 5 he joined the Sportfreunde Landringhausen , which formed a youth game community with TSV Groß Munzel from the town of the same name . In the 2013/14 season, his last year in the A-Jugend , he moved up to the first team of TSV Groß Munzel and was top scorer of the district league Hannover-Land season 3 with 23 goals in 25 or 26 appearances .

For the 2014/15 season , Weydandt moved to the fifth-class Oberliga Niedersachsen for 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder . In his first season at a higher level he was mostly a substitute player and came on 16 missions in which he scored 2 goals. In the season 2015/16 Weydandt was used more often and scored 13 goals in 25 appearances. 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder took part as runner-up in the promotion round to Regionalliga Nord , in which Weydandt scored both goals in a 2-2 draw against SV Eichede , which resulted in promotion. He was also able to confirm his goal quota in the regional league: 12 goals in 25 appearances in the 2016/17 season were followed by 14 goals in 31 appearances in the 2017/18 season .

Professional at Hannover 96

In the summer of 2018 Weydandt moved to Hannover 96 and was scheduled for the second team. Under André Breitenreiter , he was allowed to participate in the preparation of the professionals. After Weydandt was used once in the second team in the Regionalliga Nord , he made his debut in the first round of the DFB Cup in a professional game. In the 6-0 win over third division club Karlsruher SC , he was substituted on in the closing stages and scored the goals in the 85th and 90th minutes of the game. On August 25, 2018, he made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Werder Bremen on the first day of the 2018/19 season in the Bundesliga , where he came on in the 75th minute and scored the opening goal a minute later. At the beginning of September 2018, Weydandt received a professional contract with a term until June 30, 2020. In total, he made 28 Bundesliga appearances under Breitenreiter and his successor Thomas Doll (18 times from the start), in which he scored 6 goals, making him the best goalscorer his crew was. Hannover 96 relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season .

In the 2019/20 season , Weydandt made 27 second division appearances (16 times from the start) under the new head coach Mirko Slomka and his successor Kenan Kocak . With 9 goals he was the second best scorer of his team behind Marvin Ducksch (15), who missed the direct rise in 6th place. Due to problems with the Achilles tendon , the striker was out for 4 games after the winter break.

Before the 2020/21 season , Weydandt, whose contract had expired for almost 2 weeks and who, according to his own statement, had "several specific offers, including from the first division", signed a new contract until June 30, 2023.
