Josip Elez (born April 25, 1994 in Split ) is a Croatian soccer player who has been playing for Hannover 96 since January 2018 .
Stations
Elez started his career at NK Solin and from 2009 in the youth department of Hajduk Split . On April 27, 2012 he made his debut in the 0-1 defeat by Inter Zaprešić for the professionals when he came on in the 27th minute for Josip Radošević . After two more missions in the 2012/13 season, he moved to Lazio in July 2013 for a transfer fee of 400,000 euros . There he won the Coppa Italia Primavera 2013/14 with the Lazio Primavera team .
In the following years Elez was loaned to various clubs, such as B. the lower class US Grosseto in Italy, the Danish first division team Aarhus GF and the Hungarian first division team Honvéd Budapest . In June 2016, HNK Rijeka secured its services, initially also on loan, but with a purchase option for the 2017/18 season in the amount of 450,000 euros. After winning the championship and cup double with Rijeka, Rijeka withdrew the option to buy in May 2017 and signed a new contract two months later until summer 2020.
On January 8, 2018, Elez switched to the Bundesliga for Hannover 96 on loan . By the end of the 2017/18 season , he was used in 11 league games (9 times from the start). For the 2018/19 season Hannover 96 acquired the transfer rights to Elez. The 96 managing director Martin Kind described the model as a "financial design issue". In his first full season at Hannover 96, Elez played 10 league games (7 times from the start) and was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club . There he represented goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler at 3: 3 in Karlsruhe on matchday 11 after he was sent off for the last seconds of stoppage time.
National team
He played his first international youth game on September 30, 2009. By the end of 2017, he had played a total of 17 international youth matches for Croatia from the U-16s to the U-21s.
