Sei Muroya ( Japanese 室 屋 成 , Muroya Sei ; born April 5, 1994 in Kumatori , Osaka Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player . The defender is under contract with Hannover 96 in Germany and is a national team player.

Career

Muroya played for Meiji University in his youth . He signed his first professional contract with FC Tokyo at the age of 22 . With the club from the state capital, the defender always played in the highest Japanese league, the J1 League , and was a regular on the right defensive flank from the 2017 season . His greatest success with the club was the runner-up behind the Yokohama F. Marinos in winter 2019 , through which FC Tokyo qualified for the play-offs for the 2020 AFC Champions League . Similar to the rest of the world, the J1 League ceased its game operations between February and July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the defender still played eight games (one goal) after the restart .

For the 2020/21 second division season, Muroya then moved to the German 2nd Bundesliga for Hannover 96 free of charge in mid-August . He signed a three-year contract with Lower Saxony and met his national team colleague Genki Haraguchi there .

National team

With the Japanese national team , he qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics .

Muroya was appointed to the squad of the Japanese national soccer team in 2017 and was used in the 2017 East Asian Cup . He was appointed to the 2019 Asian Cup squad. He has played a total of four international matches for Japan.
