Career

youth

His parents registered him for the “Day of Talents” at Borussia Dortmund in 2002 without his knowledge . The achievements of the then eight-year-old liked the scouts and later enabled the move to Borussia Dortmund.

societies

Ducksch was considered a promising talent in the youth department of BVB. He already showed his goal instinct in the U-19 Bundesliga . In three seasons of the A-Jugend Bundesliga-West, he played 26 games and scored 16 goals.

In the second half of the 2011/12 season, Ducksch moved up to the U-23 youth team and played his first senior game on January 28, 2012 against the second team from Bayer 04 Leverkusen . After a little getting used to, he scored seven goals in five consecutive games. Against SC Fortuna Köln and SV Elversberg he listed each one Doppeltorerfolg, against the U-23 teams of the 1. FSV Mainz 05 , the 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Trier he met once each. At the end of the first half of the season, the second BVB team was 14 points behind Sportfreunde Lotte and thus the only promotion place; in the second half of the season, the team reached 52 out of 57 possible points and thus rose to the third division one point ahead of Lotte .

In preparation for the 2012/13 season, Ducksch trained with the professionals, as many players were missing from the professional squad due to the 2012 European Championship . In the 3rd division he made his debut on August 3, 2012 (3rd matchday) against Alemannia Aachen . Two weeks later he suffered a fatigue fracture in his metatarsus in the game against Kickers Offenbach and was out for the next six months. On May 18, 2013 he scored the goal for a 1-0 win in the away game against VfB Stuttgart II ; through this, the U-23 secured the class on the 38th and final matchday.

Ducksch also trained with the pros in preparation for the 2013/14 season . On August 3, 2013, in the first round of the DFB Cup against SV Wilhelmshaven , he scored his first competitive goal for BVB. On August 18, he made his Bundesliga debut against Eintracht Braunschweig when he was substituted on for Henrich Mchitarjan in stoppage time.

For the 2014/15 season , Ducksch was loaned to the Bundesliga promoted SC Paderborn 07 . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 19, 2014 (8th matchday) in a 3-1 win at home against Eintracht Frankfurt with the goal to make it 1-1 in the 66th minute. In Paderborn he could not prevail because of injuries.

After the relegation of Paderborn, Ducksch returned to Borussia Dortmund for the 2015/16 season. From then on he was no longer in the Bundesliga squad trained by Thomas Tuchel , but was part of the second team. In the fourth-class Regionalliga West , Ducksch scored 15 goals in 28 appearances in the 2015/16 season.

For the 2016/17 season , Ducksch moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for FC St. Pauli . He received a three-year contract dated June 30, 2019. In January 2017 Ducksch was for the second half of the third division Holstein Kiel borrowed. In 16 games, Ducksch scored five goals for Kiel, prepared four more and helped them advance to the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time in 36 years. After the season, St. Pauli and Kiel agreed to extend the loan for another year. In the 2017/18 season , Ducksch was the top scorer of the 2nd Bundesliga with 18 goals and thus contributed significantly to reaching third place in the table and the associated participation in the Bundesliga relegation, which KSV did not win against the first division club VfL Wolfsburg .

For the 2018/19 season , Ducksch did not return to FC St. Pauli, but moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf . He signed a contract with the Bundesliga promoted team until June 30, 2022. At the beginning of the season, he played regularly and was used in the first ten Bundesliga games, but couldn't score a goal. Ducksch was then replaced by Dodi Lukébakio as the first choice in the striker and was no longer used until the winter break. The first game of the second half against FC Augsburg Ducksch completed again in the starting line-up. In the 2-1 away win, the striker hit his head for the first time for the Rhinelander in the Bundesliga. In total, the striker was used 19 times and scored four goals.

Hannover 96 , relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga in the spring of 2019, signed Ducksch in the summer and provided him with a contract valid until June 2022.

National team

Ducksch played for the U15 and U16 national teams in 2009 and 2010 . He made his debut game for the German U17 national team on September 4, 2010 at the international match against Azerbaijan in Stadthagen . In 2011 he reached third place with the U17 at the World Cup in Mexico . At the World Cup he scored one goal each in the group game against Ecuador (6-1) and in the round of 16 against the USA (4-0).

On February 29, 2012, he made his international debut for the U18 national team in a 1-0 win over the Netherlands and scored the winning goal in the 70th minute.
