Life

The center forward Siegfried Reich received his first professional contract in 1981 with Borussia Mönchengladbach . There he could never really assert himself and was mostly a substitute player. In 1983 he went to Borussia Dortmund , where he was also unable to establish himself, and switched to Arminia Bielefeld in the 1984/85 season . Here he earned a regular place for the first time, but his 18 goals this season - Arminia's league record to this day - could not prevent his club's relegation.

Although he stayed in the Bundesliga , he also rose with his new club Hannover 96 at the end of the 1985/86 season. Reich then went into the 2nd division for the first time with the Hanoverians . With his 26 goals, he had a share in the direct resurgence of the club in the following season. In the 1987/88 season he met 17 times for Hannover 96 and reached tenth place with the team.

In 1989, Reich was relegated again with Hannover 96, initially entered the 2nd division and moved to Bayer 05 Uerdingen during the season . After he was hardly used in Uerdingen, he dissolved the contract with the Krefelders in 1991 and tried a fresh start in the Oberliga Nord at VfL Wolfsburg . The promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga was also thanks to his accuracy. In the second division, Reich was one of the league's most dangerous strikers until he retired in 1996 with Wolfsburg. So he was again top scorer in the 1992/93 season with 27 goals. He also achieved his greatest success with VfL Wolfsburg: in 1995 he was in the final of the 1995 DFB Cup , but lost the game against his former club Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0.

On March 22, 1988, Reich scored a goal for Hannover 96 in the game at VfB Stuttgart right after the execution of a kick from the center circle over the VfB keeper Eike Immel . This hit was voted Goal of the Month for March 1988.

In 1996 he took over his father's sports shop in Fallersleben, which he ran until 2019.

Today Reich plays in the old boys' district league Wolfsburg for TSG Mörse .
