Giorgos Kalaitzis ( Greek Γιώργος Καλαϊτζής , born October 29, 1976 in Volos ) is a former Greek basketball player who, based on the titles won, is one of the most successful Greek basketball players of all time.

Career

The 1.94 m tall point guard started his career with Niki Volou before moving to the Greek record champions Panathinaikos Athens via Panionios Athens and Stefanel Milano . With Panathinaikos, Kalaitzis won in nine years, in addition to eight championships and three cup wins, including twice the ULEB Euroleague . In 2006 he moved to Aris Saloniki , whom he was able to lead into the Top 16 round of the ULEB Euroleague in his first year.

National team

In addition to a number of national titles, Kalaitzis won the 1995 World Cup in front of a home crowd in Athens with Greece's U-19 selection . In addition to Kalaitzis, his future teammate Dimitris Papanikolaou and later European and vice-world champion Michalis Kakiouzis also played in this team . Later Kalaitzis was an integral part of the Greek national team for years, in which he came to 56 internationals.
