Eduard Kirschner (born November 9, 1953 in Tettenweis ), also called "Edi", is a former German soccer player who played in the Bundesliga for FC Bayern Munich .
Career
As a player
From 10 to 22 years of age (1963–1975) Kirschner was active in the football department of SV Tettenweis in the municipality of the same name in the Passau district before he completed a season for 1. FC Passau in the Bayern League and scored 32 goals in this 29 games was top scorer .
From 1976/77 to 1977/78 Kirschner was a member of the professional squad of FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga , for which he won the 9-0 home game against Tennis Borussia Berlin on September 10, 1976 (5th matchday) in the 53rd minute came on for Bernd Dürnberger - made his debut. It was against this club of all people that he managed his only Bundesliga goal; the subsequent goal in the 1: 3 defeat on February 12, 1977 (22nd matchday) in the 83rd minute - 20 minutes after being substituted for Erhan Önal . His only international appearance on March 16, 1977 in the quarter-final second leg for the European Cup in the 2-0 defeat in Kiev was short-lived; he came on in the 90th minute for Karl-Heinz Rummenigge . In the same year he won the national cup of amateurs with the selection of the regional association of Bavaria - with 4: 2 against the selection of the regional association Southwest . In the 1977/78 season Kirschner was neither under coach Dettmar Cramer nor under Gyula Lóránt, who succeeded him on December 2, 1977 .
From 1978/79 to 1979/80 he played 64 games in the south season for the second division team SpVgg Fürth and became the top scorer in the first season with 33 goals .
1980 to 1981 he was with the Edmonton Drillers ( Canada ), 1982 with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers ( USA ) under contract, before he returned to Germany in December 1982, to the second division promoted FC Augsburg , and left it due to relegation to the Bayernliga . From 1983/84 to 1984/85 he played two more years in the single track 2nd Bundesliga at SC Fortuna Cologne , where he ended his professional football career.
As a trainer
After his career as a professional footballer, he worked as a player-coach at 1. FC Passau , FC Aunkirchen , SK Schärding , SV Tettenweis and the Austrian FC Münzkirchen . This was followed by two seasons as head coach at 1. FC Passau and one at SV Tettenweis, where his career had started. In 2005 and 2009 he was an interim coach at 1. FC Passau for a few weeks.
Others
From March 2009 he was for a while the 2nd club chairman of 1. FC Passau.
