Location of Aunkirchen in Bavaria |
Aunkirchen is a former municipality that has belonged to the town of Vilshofen an der Donau in the district of Passau since 1972 .
geography
Aunkirchen is located about halfway between Vilshofen and Aldersbach in the lower valley of the Vils on the Aunkirchner Bach .
history
Ouwenchirchen was first mentioned in 1075 when it was confirmed by Pope Gregory VII as the property of the Augustinian canons of St. Nikola near Passau . From an ecclesiastical perspective, Aunkirchen was incorporated in 1176 as a vicariate of the Augustinian canons of St. Nikola. In 1418 it became the vicariate of the Vilshofen Collegiate Foundation . Aunkirchen has been a parish since 1804.
The village of Aunkirchen and other places was at the time of the Duchy and later the Electorate of Bavaria part of the Schwanham Obmannschaft , Amsham Office , Vilsbiburg District Court. Other places in the later communities belonged to the Hitzling chairmanship.
The community of Aunkirchen
The community of Aunkirchen was established in 1818 with the second community edict on the basis of most of the Algerting tax district, including the parish village of Aunkirchen. In 1821 the towns of Reiterbauer, Kuffing, Lindahof, Zeitlarn, Kapfham, Allinger, Kurzenbruck, Freyung, Stockermann, Siglhäusl and Kollmenzerhäusl were spun off, while Mattenham, Schönerting , Bergham, Eckersberg, Grafenmühl, Reith and Totermann were added.
The municipality of Aunkirchen, which corresponded to the current district of Aunkirchen, had an area of 19.4 km² and comprised 24 districts: the parish village of Aunkirchen, the parish village of Schönerting (formerly Schöneding) and eight other villages (of which three in 1960 were still classified as hamlets), four hamlets and ten deserted areas: Algerting, Altham, Bergham, Eckersberg, Edt, Grafenmühl, Hitzling, Hörgessing, Hösam, Kollmenzing, Krenn, Liessing, Lindach, Maierholz, Mattenham, Mühlham, Reut, Schwanham, Siegl , Watzmannsberg, Weg and Weihersbach. In 1898 Aunkirchen received a railway connection with the opening of the Vilshofen – Aidenbach railway line. In 1933 the community of Aunkirchen had 1,378 inhabitants, in 1939 there were 1,316, in 1960 the population was 1,349.
As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality came to the city of Vilshofen on January 1, 1972.
After the incorporation
For a long time characterized by agriculture, the place changed into a place of residence, especially through the development of the residential areas Am Pfarrerberg and Aunkirchen West . In 1987 already 1518 inhabitants lived in the area of the former municipality of Aunkirchen, which only exists as a district.
The population figures for the individual districts of the former municipality are only available from official statistics for the census . The last three censuses were held on May 25, 1987, May 27, 1970 and June 6, 1960. The city of Vilshofen also determines current population data for the districts from the register of residents . As the table below shows, from 1960 to 1987 there was only a noteworthy but considerable increase in population in the areas of Aunkirchen and Hitzling (new development areas). The development in Hitzling has essentially been completed by the local rounding statute. Most of the other districts stagnated or decreased. While Aunkirchen only made up 20 percent of the community's population in 1960, it was 36 percent in 1987 and 45.6 percent in 2010. The Einödhof Krenn was given up. All of this shows a clear tendency towards concentration.
The key numbers of the parts of the municipality, which were first assigned on the occasion of the 1987 census, are the parts of the municipality key within the city of Vilshofen.

1) The topographical designation as a village or hamlet is made in Bavaria in accordance with the resolution of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior of October 18, 1950 (No. I B1 - 68a 1): Basically every settlement with 10 or more residential buildings that is not a city , is considered a village. The term hamlet is used for three to nine residential buildings, and wasteland for one or two residential buildings . The determination is only made on the occasion of a population census or a building and apartment census (full census).
The trend in population development continued after 1987. On January 1st 2010 there were 766 inhabitants in the district of Aunkirchen, while the area of the former municipality of Aunkirchen is inhabited by almost 1700 people.
