Vilshofen Collegiate Foundation

The Vilshofen Collegiate Foundation is a former collegiate foundation in Vilshofen on the Danube in Bavaria in the Diocese of Passau .

history

The monastery, consecrated to St. Johannes Baptist, was founded in 1376 by Heinrich Tuschl von Söldenau . The collegiate foundation received many privileges and donations. The parish church of Vilshofen was also elevated to a collegiate church.

In 1794 a fire ravaged the collegiate monastery. It was dissolved in 1803 in the course of secularization . The collegiate church, which burned down in 1794, was rebuilt as a parish church in 1803 and furnished with furnishings from the church of the former Augustinian canons of St. Nikola in Passau and from the monastery church of Aldersbach monastery . The rectory was housed in the monastery building.
