2 Status: end of career

Christian Eigler (born January 1, 1984 in Roth ) is a German football player and coach . Since the 2018/19 season he has been a player-coach at his youth club SV Unterreichenbach.

youth

He grew up in Unterreichenbach in Schwabach and started playing football there in 1989 at SV Unterreichenbach . In 1993 he moved to the youth department of 1. FC Nürnberg . After the 1999/2000 season he completely stopped playing football for six months because he had other things on his mind that had nothing to do with the club but with his personal situation. He started playing in the U-19s again at his hometown club and after six months he made the jump to the first team.

Career

After youth stations at SV Unterreichenbach and 1. FC Nürnberg, Eigler first played in the U-19 of SpVgg Greuther Fürth . His professional career began in April 2003 at SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the 2nd Bundesliga. By June 2006 he played 89 league games and scored 27 goals for Greuther Fürth, where he was top scorer with 18 goals in the 2005/06 season . He was then appointed to the German U-21 national team and took part in the U-21 European Football Championship in 2006 . Before that, he played a game in the U-20 national team and was thus used twice in the national jersey.

In June 2006, the Franconian moved to Arminia Bielefeld in the 1st Bundesliga and had a contract there until 2009, which also applied to the 2nd division. In his first competitive game for East Westphalia on the first day of the 2006/07 season he scored a goal against Hamburger SV. In total, he scored six goals in 27 games in his first year. In season 2007/08 he helped his club to a good start, and he came in the first five games to three goals and two assists. He scored a total of six goals in 29 missions, including his “farewell goal” on matchday 34 in the 87th minute.

In July 2008 he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg , who had previously been relegated to the 2. Bundesliga. There he played his first competitive game on the second match day of the first half of the season at 1. FC Kaiserslautern ; he scored his first goal for FCN in his second competitive game against Alemannia Aachen . From then on he only scored in home games for a long time; only on matchday 27 did he score in Oberhausen. On the last day of the match he scored his eighth goal in his 32nd appearance. In both relegation games of 1. FC Nürnberg against Energie Cottbus, Eigler scored one goal each, which played a decisive role in the club's return to the Bundesliga.

In the first half of the 2009/10 season he had two assists in fourteen games and scored one goal against SV Werder Bremen. In total, he had three goals and two assists in 24 games during the season. In the following relegation against FC Augsburg , he scored the 1-0 winning goal in the first leg and thus played an important role in staying up. In the following year he remained a man for the important goals. With eight goals of the season he was the most successful goalscorer in Nuremberg, four of which he scored in a single game in a 5-0 win against FC St. Pauli on March 5, 2011. On April 16, 2011, he scored the 500th with his first header Bundesliga away goal of 1. FC Nürnberg.

On April 19, 2012, Eigler confirmed to the kicker sports magazine that he would leave Nuremberg after the 2011/12 season and look for a new club. For the 2012/13 season , Eigler moved to FC Ingolstadt 04 . He signed a three-year contract ending June 30, 2015.

Since the 2018/19 season he has been a player-coach at his youth club SV Unterreichenbach.
