Bernd Hoffmann (born July 9, 1946 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player who played in the Bundesliga for MSV Duisburg , Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Karlsruher SC .

Career

Bernd Hoffmann experienced his best years in the 2nd Bundesliga . From 1972 to 1974 he played for VfR Heilbronn in the then second-rate Regionalliga Süd and, with his numerous goals, was responsible for the club's heyday. Due to financial bottlenecks at VfR in the summer of 1974 they were forced to sell Bernd Hoffmann together with Martin Kübler to Karlsruher SC . In Karlsruhe Hoffmann was promptly top scorer in the 2. Bundesliga South with 25 goals in the 1974/75 season and thus made a decisive contribution to KSC's promotion to the Bundesliga.

In the first half of the Bundesliga season 1975/76 Hoffmann came to 13 missions and two goals for Karlsruhe despite a stubborn calf injury, but could not build on the successful previous season. After Hoffmann's injury was not cured during the winter break, the club signed another striker in the form of the Danish international Ove Flindt . Flindt took Hoffmann's regular place in the team and Hoffmann moved to the Stuttgart Kickers in the 2nd division. There he played four more years, after which he retrained to defender after a season.

After his active time he switched to coaching. Hoffmann trained a. a. the traditional clubs 1. FC Pforzheim , SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg , SSV Ulm 1846 and SpVgg Renningen . In 2009/10 he coached the Württemberg amateur club TSV 05 Schönaich (District League Böblingen / Calw).

Professionally, Hoffmann was employed in the personnel department of an automobile manufacturer for 25 years.
