Mike Frantz (born October 14, 1986 in Saarbrücken ) is a German football player .

youth

Frantz grew up in the Folsterhöhe district of Saarbrücken and learned to be a painter and varnisher . In his youth he played for the DJK Folsterhöhe , AFC Saarbrücken , 1. FC Saarbrücken and Borussia Neunkirchen . At the beginning of 2005 he moved up to the first team of Borussia Neunkirchen.

Career

Frantz began his career at Borussia Neunkirchen and later moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken , who missed qualifying for the regional league for the 2008/09 season. The striker scored twelve goals in 27 games in the 2007-08 season , including six goals in eight games (with three assists) before an injury that left him out for the remainder of the season. For the 2008/09 season , Frantz moved to 1. FC Nürnberg for around 100,000 euros .

His debut at the club was unfortunate: During the preparation for the season, he suffered four different injuries in just eleven days, most recently a rupture of the syndesmosis . He was then not available to the club for months and played his first professional game when he was substituted on November 7, 2008 in a 0-0 home game against FSV Frankfurt . His first professional goal followed in his fifth game on December 8, 2008 against Hansa Rostock . By the end of the season he made 16 appearances. In the two following relegation games, through which the Nuremberg rose to the Bundesliga , he was substituted on.

On the first day of the 2009/10 season he made his first division debut against FC Schalke 04 . On March 27, 2010 he scored his first goal in the top division in a 2: 4 defeat in the away game against Werder Bremen . Especially in the second half of the season he had a place in the regular formation and came to 26 missions including the two relegation games, where he was mainly used in the attacking midfield. Frantz was also set throughout the first half of the 2010/11 season, but after a protracted toe injury, he was out for the entire second half.

In the summer break of 2014, Frantz moved to league rivals SC Freiburg . From the 2018/19 season he was the team captain of the Freiburg team. On September 20, 2019, Frantz prematurely extended his contract with SC.

Before the 2020/21 season Mike Frantz moved to the second division Hannover 96. He signed a two-year contract in July 2020.
