Kingsley Schindler (born July 12, 1993 in Hamburg ) is a German - Ghanaian soccer player . He has been playing for Hannover 96 since the 2020/21 season .

Schindler was born in Hamburg as the son of a Ghanaian mother and initially played in the youth teams of the local clubs Hummelsbütteler SV , SC Alstertal-Langenhorn and SC Concordia Hamburg , for whose first men's team he was A-Junior (U19) in March 2011 fifth class Oberliga Hamburg graduated. For the 2011/12 season he joined the U19 of Hannover 96 after a trial session , with whom he played in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga .

After Schindler had not received another contract after his last junior year, he moved to the fourth-class Regionalliga Nordost for the promoted TSG Neustrelitz for the 2012/13 season . There he came to 20 regional league appearances (11 times from the start), in which he scored 2 goals. For the 2013/14 season , Schindler moved to the Regionalliga Südwest for the second team of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In the 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons he was used 77 times (67 times from the start) in the Regionalliga Südwest and scored 14 goals.

For the 2016/17 season , Schindler returned to northern Germany and signed a three-year contract with third division team Holstein Kiel . In his first season he came under the head coach Karsten Neitzel and his successor Markus at the beginning of 35 times (32 times in the starting line-up) in the league and scored 12 goals. In May 2017 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with KSV Holstein . In the 2017/18 season , 33 second division appearances (12 times from the start) followed under the start, in which he scored 12 goals. Holstein Kiel took 3rd place, but failed in the promotion relegation at VfL Wolfsburg . For the season 2018/19 took Tim Walter the team. Schindler came under him 23 times (18 times from the start) in the league and scored 6 goals.

For the 2019/20 season, Schindler moved to Bundesliga promoted 1. FC Köln . He already signed a contract in January 2019 that ran until June 30, 2023, when Markus Anfang was head coach of FC. However, this was on leave before the end of the season. Under the new head coach Achim Beierlorzer , who was replaced by Markus Gisdol after the 11th match day , Schindler made 10 Bundesliga appearances (8 times from the start). After he had been in the starting line-up under Gisdol on matchday 12, he only made 2 more substitutions by the end of the season.

For the 2020/21 season, Schindler switched back to the 2nd Bundesliga to Hannover 96 on loan , where he had already played for the A-Juniors (U19) in the 2011/12 season .

National team

In 2015, Schindler was invited to a training course for the Ghanaian U23 national team. In two test matches against Uganda, however, he was not used because he had difficulties with the climatic conditions (high temperatures and high humidity).
