Markus Anfang (born June 12, 1974 in Cologne ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .
Career
Player career
Markus Anfang started playing soccer at TSV Bayer Dormagen and KSV Heimersdorf in Cologne. Long-time coach during his youth there was his father Dieter Anfang, who led the team to some successes.
He started his professional football career in 1995 at Fortuna Düsseldorf before moving to FC Tirol Innsbruck via FC Schalke 04 , where he was Austrian champions three times in a row from 2000 to 2002 .
After the bankruptcy of the Tyrolean club, Markus went to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in early 2002 . There he could not take on the role he had hoped for, which is why the contract was terminated by the club after two years. The stations Energie Cottbus and MSV Duisburg followed . For the 2006/07 season, Markus Anfang moved to the Regionalliga Nord, back to Fortuna Düsseldorf , where he played until the summer of 2008, but did not receive a new contract afterwards.
Markus Anfang was a member of the players' council of the Association of Contract Soccer Players (VdV), as a representative of the Regionalliga Nord .
On October 21, 2008, FC Wacker Innsbruck announced the commitment until the end of November. With the beginning of the second half of the 2008/09 season, the beginning was in the service of the regional league club SV Eintracht Trier . After Reinhold Breu took over the position of coach in February 2010, the beginning was sorted out alongside three other players. Instead, he worked as a scout for the club until the end of the 2009/10 season and made his trainer A certificate at the same time.
Coaching career
For the 2010/11 season, Markus began coaching the Grevenbroich Lower Rhine league club SC Kapellen-Erft , with whom he qualified for the new Lower Rhine upper league in 2012 . During the winter break of the 2012/13 season, he terminated his contract and moved to the Bayer 04 Leverkusen performance center with immediate effect . There he was responsible for the U17 and U19 youngsters until 2016.
On August 29, 2016, Holstein Kiel became the coach of the then third division team . At the end of the season he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with Kiel . In the following season he finished third with Kiel and only failed in relegation on promotion to the Bundesliga.
On April 17, 2018, he was signed by 1. FC Köln as the new coach for the 2018/19 season.
On April 27, 2019, 1. FC Köln took a leave of absence after the club had not won four games. 1. FC Köln were leaders at this point; the lead on the relegation and 4th place was six points before the 32nd game day.
For the 2020/21 season , the second division team of SV Darmstadt 98 will take over as the successor to Dimitrios Grammozis . He received a contract with the previous fifth until June 30, 2022.
