The SC 1911 Kapellen-Erft is a football club from Grevenbroich-Kapellen on the left Lower Rhine in North Rhine-Westphalia. Until the end of the 2016/17 season in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss he was the football club with the highest division , the Oberliga Niederrhein .

history

The SC Kapellen was founded in May 1911 in the Kapellener Glasmacher restaurant as the Capellener Football Club , or CFC for short. In the early years we played and trained on pastures in the vicinity. Poles served as gates and there were no official rules. In 1913 the CFC joined the West German Gaming Association . A sports field "Am Probstbusch" was provided by the city. About where the Erftstadion is still located today. Due to the risk of confusion with the Cölner FC 1899 , which already existed at the time , the CFC was renamed SC 1911 Kapellen from 1921 onwards .

At the beginning of the 1920s, the old Erftstadion on Stadionstrasse was the first official venue. This remained the home of SC Kapellen until the new Erftstadion was built on Weimarstrasse in 1974. Before the beginning of the Second World War , the SC Kapellen merged with the TV Jahn in 1906 Kapellen to form TuS Kapellen 06/11 . From 1941 onwards, gaming operations ceased completely. In 1946 the merger was canceled.

In 1947 the club's operations normalized again with the resumption of chairmanship by Willi Wienand and the club's acceptance into the Niederrhein Football Association . The club started playing in the 1st district class.

In the 1949/50 season, the SC Kapellen was able to rise to the district class, but only stayed there for a year. The rise in 1954 only lasted a year, the district class was the fourth highest German division at that time. This was followed by further ascents and descents in and out of the district class. In 1963 the last promotion to the district class followed. Since then, SC Kapellen has not descended, only ascended.

In 1977 he was promoted to the Lower Rhine Regional League , and in the 2003/04 season he was promoted to the Lower Rhine Association League. From the 2012/13 season they played in the newly founded Oberliga Niederrhein . The SC 1911 Kapellen-Erft has been playing in the Erft Stadium on Weimarstrasse since 1974.

On April 9, 2013, long-time chairman Josef Breuer resigned from his position for health reasons. Breuer, who had been active in the association since 1954 and had held the office of chairman since 2005, temporarily handed over his office to the second chairman, Peter Kempermann. Kempermann was confirmed in this office at the next general meeting. In 2016/17 , the club was relegated to the Lower Rhine regional league as 16th in the Oberliga Niederrhein .
