Frank Schulz (born February 18, 1961 in Remscheid ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

Schulz, who played in midfield, began his Bundesliga career at VfL Bochum; VfL coach Rolf Schafstall brought the dangerous league player in the summer of 1983 from Westfalia Herne . In the following four years, Frank Schulz quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous midfielders in the Bundesliga, hitting about every fourth game on average. He kept this cut in his first season at Eintracht Frankfurt. Set as a regular player from the start of the season, he scored in his first game for Eintracht in Kaiserslautern and scored the next goal at 2-2. It shouldn't be Frank Schulz's last decisive goal for the Riederwald team . At the end of the season he finally played in the cup final against his former club VfL Bochum. Frank Schulz played a decisive role in this title win, not least because of his two goals in the first round against FC Schalke 04 and in the semifinals in Bremen , when he scored the golden goal for the 0-1 final score and with one of the few counterattacks That evening, Eintracht paved the way to Berlin for the final. The following season, Frank Schulz came in the European Cup Winners' Cup to his only two European Cup appearances against Sakaryaspor , where he scored a goal in the second leg. Only at the end of this season had Frank Schulz fought back his regular place in the starting lineup. Finally, in his last competitive game for Eintracht, he scored the decisive goal in the relegation against 1. FC Saarbrücken , which ensured the Frankfurters remain in the Bundesliga.

After a brief stint at the second division VfL Osnabrück , Frank Schulz was signed by Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1990 . His volley goal in Mönchengladbach's 5-2 away win in Leverkusen was voted Goal of the Month in May 1991 . With Borussia, Schulz also reached the final in the DFB Cup 1991/92 . He had to end his professional career in 1993 after an injury and moved to the upper division Alemannia Aachen . With the Alemannia he reached the runner-up again and rose to the Regionalliga West / Südwest.

After his active playing career, he took on a coaching position at various clubs. Among other things, he was a coach for five years from 2003 to 2008 at his home club Westfalia Herne, with which he also won the Westphalia Cup in 2006. From April 1, 2010 to October 25, 2011 he was coach of the NRW league club SSVg Velbert .

In February 2012, Schulz took over the coaching position at the then national league club VfB Waltrop .

In July 2015 he took over the coaching position at SV Gescher.
