Mathias Wittek (born March 30, 1989 in Kędzierzyn-Koźle , Poland ) is a German football player of Polish origin. The defensive player has been part of SV Darmstadt 98's squad since January 2019 .
Career
Wittek began playing football at MBB SG Augsburg , later he played at TSV Aindling , before moving to TSV 1860 Munich in the summer of 2004 . There he played in the youth teams for three years before moving up to the U23 squad in the Regionalliga Süd in 2007 . In 2006 he became German champion with the B-youth , in 2007 he won the DFB-Juniors-Vereinspokal with the A-youth .
Wittek had his first assignment for the second representation of the Munich Lions on March 28, 2008 at the home game against Wacker Burghausen . In the summer of 2009 he completed the season preparation with the professionals of TSV 1860, but trained and then continued to play with the U 23. From the beginning of November 2009 he trained with the first team.
After he was on the pitch over the full length in the first 13 regional league games of the 2009/10 season, he was appointed to the professional squad for the first time on November 8, 2009 for the second division game of TSV 1860 in Cottbus . Until the winter break he was on the bench for three more games, but was not used, while he played the four remaining games over the full length in the second team. During his time in Munich, Wittek played 28 times for the U-23 of TSV 1860, scoring two goals.
In January 2010, Wittek moved to third division club FC Ingolstadt 04 . He made his professional football debut there on February 6, 2010, when he was on the starting line-up for the game against VfL Osnabrück . He was used seven times in the second half of the season and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team. In the higher league, however, he was only a substitute player and came in the second half of only a single short assignment, which is why he left the club at the end of the season.
On May 25, 2011 third division club FC Heidenheim announced the commitment of Mathias Wittek. On the first day of the 2011/12 season, he suffered a knee injury. Only in the second half of the season he was used regularly and played mainly in the defensive midfield.
On January 30, 2019, Wittek moved to SV Darmstadt 98 , where he signed a contract with a term until June 30, 2021. After only two short appearances, the defender tore a ligament in a test match in November 2019 and was out for a long time.
