Guðlaugur Victor Pálsson (born April 30, 1991 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic football player who has been playing for German second division club SV Darmstadt 98 since January 2019 . The midfielder is also a multiple Icelandic international .

Athletic career

Victor began his football career in his native Iceland with Fylkir Reykjavík , but moved to Aarhus GF in Denmark as a youngster . In 2009 he moved to England in the youth team of Liverpool FC , then in 2010 in the first team, in which, however, could not prevail. In order to collect match practice, the Northern English loaned him to London to Dagenham & Redbridge , which had just been promoted to the second division .

Over the next six years, Victor played for various clubs in Scotland , the USA , the Netherlands , Sweden and Denmark before signing a contract with the Swiss first division club FC Zurich in 2017 , which had just been promoted to the Super League again for the 2017/18 season . At the end of the season he won the Swiss Cup with the team as captain .

During the winter break of the following season, Victor Pálsson went to Germany and signed a contract with the second division club SV Darmstadt 98 there until June 2022.

National team

Victor was active in all youth national teams in his country and is currently part of the senior national team in Iceland , but was not present at either the 2016 European Championship or the 2018 World Cup .
