Dominik Kaiser (born September 16, 1988 in Mutlangen ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with Hannover 96 .

Career

After playing for various youth clubs in the Württemberg East Alb, Dominik Kaiser came to 1. FC Normannia Gmünd from the 2007/08 season to regular appearances in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . He also played tennis up to the age of 17, but finally decided on a career as a footballer. For the 2009/10 season he moved to league competitor TSG 1899 Hoffenheim II . The trainer at the time, Markus Gisdol, was an acquaintance of Kaiser's brother from times together at SC Geislingen. In his first season he rose with the team in the Regionalliga Süd .

After he had already trained regularly with the professional squad during the 2010/11 season, Kaiser played for the first time for the Bundesliga team of Hoffenheim on May 14, 2011, as the defensive player on matchday 34 of the Bundesliga season 10/11 in the home game against VfL Wolfsburg Edson Braafheid came on in the 84th minute .

On January 3, 2012, Kaiser extended his contract with TSG, which originally expired at the end of the season, for two more years until June 30, 2014.

For the 2012/13 season he moved to RB Leipzig in the Regionalliga Nordost . With the Leipzigers he met Ralf Rangnick , his former sponsor from Hoffenheim's times. With the club he rose to the 3rd division at the end of the season . In the 2013/14 season , the player became a regular in the attacking midfield and contributed 13 goals to promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . He was also named third division player of the year. Kaiser was the team captain of RB Leipzig for the first time in January 2014 and remained so until the end of the club's first Bundesliga season.

In the following season in the 2nd Bundesliga, he established himself as one of the best players. The promotion to the Bundesliga was missed, however. For the 2015/16 season, RB Leipzig stepped up on the offensive. This made Kaiser's role in the game more defensive. Nevertheless, he contributed to Leipzig's promotion to the Bundesliga. He made his Bundesliga debut on August 28, 2016 (1st matchday) in a 2-2 away game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and equalized with his first goal in the 58th minute. This was also RB Leipzig's first Bundesliga club.

After six years in the service of the Saxons, Kaiser announced his departure at the end of the 2017/18 Bundesliga season . His farewell game took place on May 13, 2018, where he competed against a selection of his colleagues in the home arena with the Domme & Friends team.

For the 2018/19 season Kaiser moved to the Danish first division club Brøndby IF . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2020 and met the German coach Alexander Zorniger , under whom he had already played in Leipzig. In his first year Kaiser reached the Danish Cup final with Brøndby , but it was lost.

After a year and a half in Denmark (68 competitive games, 16 goals, thirteen assists) Kaiser returned to Germany in January 2020 and joined the second division team Hannover 96 . He has a contract with Lower Saxony until 2022.
