Barış Başdaş (born January 17, 1990 in Cologne ) is a German - Turkish football player .

Career

Başdaş was born in Cologne in 1990 as the son of Turkish guest workers who had emigrated to Germany from the small town of Karabulduk in the province of Giresun . Here he started in the youth department of the CfB Ford Niehl . He then moved to the youth team at Fortuna Cologne and later to the youth team at 1. FC Cologne . After several years at 1. FC Köln, he switched to Alemannia Aachen as a youth . He was active in the youth of Aachen until summer 2009.

For the 2009/10 season he signed the Turkish first division team Kasımpaşa . Here he sat on the bench or played for the reserve team in the first few weeks of his first season. It wasn't until Yılmaz Vural was hired as a coach that he got better opportunities here. Vural used him directly as a regular player and Başdaş was one of the main pillars of his team at the club in the relegation battle. At the end of the season Kasımpaşa occupied a safe place in the table. After Vural's departure, he lost his regular place. At the end of the 2010/11 season he rose with his club in the TFF 1st Lig . For the new season he stayed with Kasımpaşa.

After Başdaş was put on the sales list with other players on the directive of the new head coach Önder Özen , he moved to the second division Göztepe Izmir at the end of June 2015 . For the second half of the 2015/16 season, this club loaned him to league rivals Adana Demirspor .

Then the first division newcomer Kardemir Karabükspor signed him for the 2016/17 season, where Başdaş played until his last move to Hannover 96 from the 2020/21 season.

National team career

Başdaş started playing for the Turkish national youth teams early on. From the U-18 he went through the Turkish U-21 youth teams. Although he also received offers from the German youth national teams, he decided on the Turkish youth national teams.

In December 2012, Başdaş was nominated for the squad of the second selection of the Turkish national team , the Turkish A-2 national team, and has played one game for this so far.
