The CfB Ford Niehl (officially: Club for Movement Games Ford Köln-Niehl 09/52 eV) is a sports club from the Cologne district of Niehl . The first soccer team played for five years in the highest amateur league in the Middle Rhine region.

history

The association goes back to CfB 09 Niehl , which was founded in September 1909 . The second parent club is FC Ford Köln , founded in 1930 , which was brought into being as the operating team of the Cologne-based Ford-Werke GmbH . In 1935, both clubs merged to form CfB 09 Niehl / Ford . This merger was resolved six years later. In 1952 FC Ford Cologne was re-established , which in 1966 merged with CfB 09 Niehl to form today's CfB Ford Niehl. Sports highlights before the end of the Second World War were the promotion to the second-rate district class and a 7-1 victory in a cup game against Fortuna Düsseldorf .

After the end of the war, the CfB played in the district class from 1947 and managed to stay in the league two years later after a play-off against BV Worringen . 1955 missed the Niehler with three points behind the amateurs of 1. FC Köln the promotion to the national league . Four years later it went down to the district class. FC Ford Köln rose to the district class in 1961 and made it into the state league five years later. So the CfB Ford Niehl could start in the second highest amateur league in the Middle Rhine region.

As early as 1968, the team secured the championship and promotion to the Mittelrhein Association League . Between 1970 and 1972, the Niehlers reached sixth place three times in a row. For financial reasons, the club withdrew its team in May 1973 despite athletic qualifications from the association league. After several years at the county level, the CfB Ford became an elevator crew . After promotions in 1991 and 1994, the club returned to the regional league, only to return to the regional league A after being relegated in 1996 and 2001. The direct resurgence followed and from 2002 to 2004 the Niehlers played again in the state league. In 2013 the team rose to the district league A and two years later in the district league B.
