Hans Adu Sarpei (born June 28, 1976 in Tema ) is a former German - Ghanaian soccer player . At first he was used as a midfielder , but towards the end of his sporting career mostly as a full-back . Sarpei also works as a social media consultant .

Life

Sarpei's parents lived in Hamburg in the early 1970s ; According to his own information, his first name Hans, which is atypical for a Ghanaian, comes from this . He was born in Ghana, but has lived in Germany since he was three. He grew up in Cologne - Chorweiler and completed an apprenticeship as a plant mechanic at Bayer .

His older brother Edward (* 1969) was also a professional footballer, he played for 1. FC Köln , among others . His nephew Hans Nunoo (* 1998) is also a soccer player.

On February 8, 2014, Sarpei married the actress Pia Isabel de Buhr (* 1979), who took his name. The couple have two daughters.

In his youth, Sarpei played for SV Fühlingen Chorweiler, CfB Ford Niehl and SC Viktoria Köln , and later with Winfriedia Mülheim, Siegburger SV 04 and VfL Rheinbach.

As an amateur at Fortuna Cologne , he made it to the professional squad (2nd Bundesliga) in 1998. In 2000 he moved to MSV Duisburg , from 2001 he played for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga . In the summer of 2007, Sarpei moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen for free and in the summer of 2010 to FC Schalke 04 , with whom he signed a two-year contract. After Sarpei had been on a regular basis at the beginning of the season, he often had to be content with a seat on the bench or in the stands. He was eventually even suspended due to insufficient training from coach Felix Magath and had to train with the second team. After a coach change Ralf Rangnick brought him back to the professional team. Although he only played nine Bundesliga games for Schalke, he was always involved in the decisive games. In 2011 he was in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup against FC Bayern Munich and in the final against MSV Duisburg in the starting line-up. He also contributed to Schalke's good performance in the Champions League, during which he was used in the round of 16 against Valencia and in the quarter-finals against the defending champions Inter Milan . Sarpei was adopted by the Gelsenkirchen team at the end of the 2011/12 season and ended his playing career.

Sarpei was a Ghanaian international . He played his first international game on October 8, 2000 in Ghana's 4-1 victory over Zimbabwe . He also took part in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as a regular player .

On March 5, 2015, Sarpei received the A license from the DFB after completing the relevant training . At the end of March 2015 he took over the training of the third men's team of TuS Haltern for a short time as part of his TV series . He works as a trainer at a DFB base where he trains young people from 14 to 16 years of age.
