Kathrin Menzinger (born September 24, 1988 in Vienna ) is an Austrian dancer . The world champion WDSF Professional Division in the categories Show Dance Latin and Showdance standard was by the TV show 's Dancing Stars and Let's Dance known.

Life

Menzinger started with her brother Patrick at the age of six with the tournament dance sport and was able to win several Austrian school and youth championship titles in the Latin American dances by 2004 and represented Austria at a total of seven junior and youth world championships of the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF). In 2002, at the age of 13, she was the youngest dancer to reach the final of the State Championship Latin in the general class and thus became the youngest member of the national team. In 2004 she won the Vice State Champion title in the combination of ten dances.

From 2004 she achieved international success with her new partner Vadim Garbuzov . In 2005 they were able to reach the final of the Youth World Cup with ten dances in Antwerp . The following year they succeeded in winning the Austrian state champion title in this discipline, and in 2006 they reached the semifinals of the World Cup in Moscow for more than ten dances . After a break due to injury in 2007 and 2008, she returned to her old dance successes in 2010 with 4th place at the European Cup in combination.

In 2012 she started in standard and latin with free-style or show dance and won the Austrian championship in this discipline in the same year, as well as in 2013. Even internationally, she reached the final in standard show dance in Beijing in 2012 when she first competed at a World Show Dance In 2013 she succeeded in the standard and latein discipline with 5th and 6th place, also at the WDSF Showdance World Championships in Beijing 2013. In the same year, the first WDSF World Dance Games took place in Kaoshiung , Taiwan. in which she took 4th and 5th place in the finals of the show dance competitions.

She became known throughout Austria in 2011 through her participation in the ORF production Dancing Stars , where she was Dieter Chmelar's professional partner . In summer 2011, she and her partner took part in the Starnacht am Wörthersee, also produced by ORF, as a show act. Also in 2012 she was part of the team of professional dancers from Dancing Stars , where she formed a dance couple with the Austrian actor David Heissig and reached the 4th round. In that year she also began her choreography work at the Filmhof Wein4tel in Asparn an der Zaya and in the Vienna Metropol , together with her dance partner Vadim Garbuzov she drew for the choreography for the musical The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Vicky Schubert , based loosely on Shakespeare , responsible.

From 2012 to 2016 she was employed as an army athlete in the Austrian Armed Forces in the federal sports center in Südstadt.

Back in 2013 as a professional dancer at Dancing Stars , she and her celebrity partner, the musical star Lukas Perman, made it to the finals this year , where they took 3rd place. In summer 2013 she was responsible for the choreography of the world premiere of the musical Der Hofnarr (based on the Danny Kaye film The Court Jester ) for the Wiener Metropol and the Filmhof Wein4tel. At the beginning of November she won her first international title with the gold medal at the European Championships in Latin Showdance in Dresden , followed by her second Vice World Champion title, this time in the Showdance Standard Section.

In 2015 she took part in the RTL show Let's Dance for the first time as a professional dancer and was able to become Dancing Star 2015 together with her dance partner, the former soccer player Hans Sarpei . In June she became world champion of the WDSF Professional Division in the Latin Show Dance category together with Vadim Garbuzov. In November Menzinger and Garbuzov became world champions again at the World Championships for Professionals in Showdance Standard.

In 2016 Menzinger joined Let's Dance again , but dropped out with Ulrich Potofski in the first round. In the third episode, the couple moved back into the show due to Franziska Traub's injury-related departure and left in episode nine. On May 8, she and her partner Garbuzov won the European Dance Award in Baden-Baden , an event at which the best show act of the year is honored every year across all genres. In June, he won the European Championship in Showdance Standard in Vienna, followed by the European Championship in Showdance Latin in September in Sibiu , Romania . In November, the couple received the 3rd world title, this time in show dance Latin.

In 2017 she took part in Let's Dance again, this time with the lower-leg amputee Paralympics winner Heinrich Popow . She reached Show 9 with him, then he had to retire due to injury. On April 9, 2017, she defended her world title in Latin Showdance at the Vienna Dance Concourse, and on December 9, 2017, she won her 5th world title, again in the Showdance Standard in the Multiversum in Schwechat. In 2018 she danced in Let's Dance with Heiko Lochmann in twelfth place, in 2019 with Thomas Rath in eleventh place. In 2020 she danced herself with Tijan Njie in 4th place.

In 2019 she was part of the cast of the first Let's Dance Live tour, with which she toured 16 German city dwellers.

Together with her parents she runs the doubledance studio in Franzensdorf in Lower Austria . She was in a relationship with her dance partner Vadim Garbuzov until 2015, and has had a relationship with Max Boas since at least 2019.
