Star night
The Starnacht is a music event that has been taking place in Austria since 2000. In 2009 and 2010 there were also two editions from Switzerland.
Emergence
The "Starnacht" is a TV format that was staged for the first time in the 2000 edition of the "Starnacht am Wörthersee " in the Werzer Seearena in Carinthia . Originally, the organizing company ip-media planned to host a World Boxing World Cup in Carinthia, but this was canceled by the TV partner RTL at the time. A new concept was set up at short notice, the ORF was brought on board as a partner and the 1st “Star Night at Lake Wörthersee” took place in Pörtschach .
concept
The concept of the star night combines the components of a colorful mixed music show with national and international artists and a stage concept with modern show technology in front of the backdrop of the respective venue. While the Starnacht at Wörthersee celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2009, starnights were also produced between 2003 and 2006 in front of the Ferris wheel in Vienna or the mountains in the Montafon . In November 2009, the star night from the Jungfrau Region was presented for the first time on the Höhematte in Interlaken - in front of the peaks of Jungfrau , Mönch and Eiger . There was now a summer and a winter edition, each produced by ORF and Swiss television and broadcast by both television companies. As moderators were Alfons Haider in Austria and Monique and Sascha Ruefer in Switzerland on stage, who were also at the other output as an artist or guest presenters with it.
Since 2012 there has been an edition from the Wachau (Lower Austria) every autumn / late summer for the “Starnacht am Wörthersee”. In 2016 there was also an edition from Lake Neusiedl (Burgenland). The "Starnächte" have been moderated since 2015 by Alfons Haider and the German television presenter Barbara Schöneberger . For years, the German partner institution was ZDF , now it's MDR .
In 2020, the planned star nights at Lake Wörthersee and from the Wachau were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The next star nights are expected to take place again in 2021. Instead, a best-of was broadcast on July 18, 2020.
