Sarah Brightman
Sarah Brightman (born August 14, 1960 in Berkhamsted , Hertfordshire , England ) is a British soprano and actress .
life and career
She began taking ballet lessons at the age of three. She made her debut in I and Albert at the Piccadilly Theater in London as the daughter of Queen Victoria. Sarah Brightman was married to Andrew Graham Stewart when she was 18 years old. She was then the second wife of the composer Andrew Lloyd Webber ; the couple married on March 22, 1984. In the premiere of Webber's musical The Phantom of the Opera in 1986, Sarah Brightman sang the role of Christine Daae, which was written for her by Webber. The marriage remained childless and was divorced in 1990.
Sarah Brightman sang the duet Time to Say Goodbye with Andrea Bocelli in 1996 , which then became a hit. On August 25, 2007, Brightman performed at the opening ceremony of the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka , Japan with her new song Running . She plays a leading role in the 2008 rock opera film Repo! The Genetic Opera by Darren Lynn Bousman .
The album Symphony was released in spring 2008, on which I will be with you, a duet with KISS singer Paul Stanley , who also sang in the Phantom of the Opera in 1999 . The title song Symphony is a cover version of the song Symphonie by the German band Silbermond . At the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , she was allowed to sing the Olympic anthem with the Chinese pop star Liu Huan . In January 2008 she gave a one-time concert for the album Symphony in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna , which was filmed. There was a 30-piece string orchestra, a choir consisted of 16 singers, and some duo partners were also present. At the beginning of November 2008 her first Christmas album A Winter Symphony was released and she started her Symphony Tour with the songs from this album . Shortly afterwards, pieces of music from the Christmas album A Winter Symphony and concert recordings of the Symphony Tour with pictures and videos were posted on YouTube , which led to a legal dispute that was brought before the European Court of Justice by the Federal Court of Justice to clarify the responsibility of platforms such as YouTube for copyright infringements.
Brightman's vocal and musical work shows a great variety of styles. Her music genres are mainly crossover and classical pop. In addition, she regularly goes on excursions on other musical topics. For example, she was also a singer with Gregorian , who interpret pop and rock music in the Gregorian style. On some Gregorian songs she sang under the pseudonyms Sarah Hellmann and Hepsibah. She also sang songs with the German electro sound acts Sash! and Schiller.
social commitment
Since February 2012, Brightman has been an “Artist for Peace” for UNESCO .
Planned space flight
On October 10, 2012, Brightman announced that she was planning to participate as a space tourist on a Soyuz mission to the International Space Station (ISS) through Space Adventures . The Russian space agency Roskosmos confirmed on May 6, 2013 that it was being negotiated with Space Adventures. The price was quoted as US $ 52 million. It was scheduled to complete its space flight in September 2015 as part of the Soyuz TMA-18M mission . On May 13, 2015, however, it became known that she had postponed the flight indefinitely for "family reasons".
