life and career

Childhood and youth

In his biography from 2003, Daniel Küblböck describes a difficult childhood that was marked by many moves. After his parents divorced, he first lived with his mother, who was married seven times. She often had men with her, drank and even beat him up when he was drunk . His family wanted a daughter, which is why he took on a female role. He later lived with his father, whom he was very fond of.

As a child he performed on the school stage and on small stages in Bavaria. In 1998 he made dance training in Passau . After graduating from secondary school , in September 2001 he began training as a nanny at the Pfarrkirchen vocational school , during which he completed an internship in a kindergarten in Eggenfelden .

Küblböck interrupted his training to take part in the first season of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar with ten other candidates in Cologne at the end of 2002 / beginning of 2003 . His appearance quickly attracted the interest of many viewers and the media while the show was running. The Bild-Zeitung in particular gave Küblböck more space than any other candidate. For this reason, too, he was often given chances of winning. He finally dropped out in the penultimate show and took third place behind Alexander Klaws and Juliette Schoppmann . With the single You Drive Me Crazy (produced by Dieter Bohlen ) Küblböck came to the top of the charts in Germany.

After leaving Deutschland sucht den Superstar on March 1, 2003, Küblböck was present in the German media for more than a year. This was followed, among other things, by a guest appearance in the 200th episode of the television series St. Angela and a commercial for a dairy . Küblböck's debut album Positive Energie was released in June 2003 and Bertelsmann released his autobiography I live my tones at the end of September 2003 , which he wrote together with the journalist Julia Boenisch . The book, which he himself voiced for an audio book version , reached number three on the Spiegel bestseller list. In 2003 Küblböck also played over 20 concerts. In total he had over 50 appearances, including several Unplugged concerts in December 2004 and February 2005.

Media presence 2004/2005

At the beginning of 2004 Daniel Küblböck could be seen again in a regular TV show when he was on the first season of the RTL TV show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! participated.

On February 24, 2004, Küblböck, who at the time did not yet have a driver's license , caused an accident near Pfarrkirchen in Lower Bavaria, in which the car in which he and two friends were sitting collided with a truck. After the fire brigade freed him from the wrecked car, he was anesthetized by the emergency doctor at the scene of the accident. A rescue helicopter flew him to the Passau Clinic . He was operated on on his left arm, and three days later on his right shoulder. Küblböck also suffered a head injury in the accident, lost a tooth and left a visible scar. Küblböck received prominent sick visits from Thomas Gottschalk , which incidentally made him lose a bet that ..? -Saalwette redeemed. In a judgment of June 23, 2004, Küblböck was sentenced to a fine of 25,000 euros and eight hours of community service under youth criminal law. According to media reports, the judge suggested a Franciscan monastery as a place of performance. The Franciscans in his hometown Eggenfelden refused, but several monasteries in Bavaria agreed to do so. In August 2004, Küblböck got his driver's license.

In the same year, Ulli Lommel made the film Daniel, the Magician , in which Küblböck played a fictionalized version of himself in the lead role and which was released in theaters in August 2004. The film, which was largely torn by the critics, flopped and marked the provisional endpoint of Küblböck's strong media presence. An album announced in advance of the film premiere for October 2004 has been postponed. Instead, at the end of 2004, Küblböck released the single Don't Close Your Eyes together with three other DSDS participants under the name 4 United, as well as a DVD for his 2003 Positive Energy Tour.

In January 2005 the comic Super-Dan came out, in which Küblböck has to survive as a superhero. However, the series was discontinued in March 2005; Legal problems were cited as the reason.

From September 4 to 11, 2005, Küblböck lived in the Big Brother village. In October 2005 he had his protruding ears put on , because of which he had been teased as " Dumbo " in kindergarten . In the same month he again made it into the German single charts with the Rio Reiser cover König von Deutschland , and in November 2005 his second album Liebe Nation was released . With these publications, Küblböck's producers joined the trend towards pop music with German-language texts. The motto of a mini promo tour in November entitled I hate myself was also intended to underline the changed style .

Image change from 2007

Daniel Küblböck (2011)

In June 2007 Küblböck made it back into the German charts with Born in Bavaria ; the country-style single reached number 54. He released his first jazz program on July 14, 2007 as DVD Jazz-Night in Stuttgart and also premiered it in the Cinecittà cinema in Nuremberg .

In 2008 he organized a charity gala at Mannheim Airport for the benefit of the German AIDS Foundation with an action under the motto “Love positive - stay negative” . Under the motto “Daniel Küblböck & Friends” he moderated the event and performed alongside Juliette Schoppmann , Claus Eisenmann and the newcomer band “Radio Caroline” himself. In September 2008 he started a new tour "Jazz meets Blues ... when two fall in love". As on his “Back to the Roots” tour in 2007, for which the DVD premiere was due on October 4th at the Cinecittà in Nuremberg, he could be seen all over Germany.

In 2010 Küblböck released the single Bodenmais [moachts eich auf] in cooperation with the holiday resort of the same name in the Bavarian Forest as well as his new album Schrebergarten , on which he presents German-language jazz, rock and pop. Both albums were produced by Marco Breitenstein and were released under his label Küblböck Records . On August 8, 2010, Küblböck was represented as one of four hosts on the VOX television program in the series The Perfect Celebrity Dinner .

On December 9, 2011, he appeared on the Ultimate Chart Show with the title You Drive Me Crazy . His Positive Energie GmbH produced the Küblböck Talk Night , which took place twice in 2010 and once in 2011 and was broadcast via the Internet. As part of the Rheingauer Weinbühne, Küblböck hosted the talk show Daniels Bistro in the Brentano barn in Oestrich-Winkel five times from November 2011 to March 2014 .

In 2011 he was adopted by the 70-year-old, single and childless real estate millionaire Kerstin Elisabeth Kaiser in the form of an adult adoption in accordance with § 1767 BGB .

On January 3, 2013, Küblböck's drug addict brother was found dead in his Berlin apartment. The brothers had not been in contact for years.

Küblböck lived on Mallorca and Berlin , before that he had lived in Nuremberg for three years and then in Wiesbaden . Musically Küblböck was meanwhile devoted to jazz, but did not want to commit himself to any kind of music. On his 2012 album Diez años Kúblbóck - I understand only Spanish you can find German chansons as well as Spanish Latin pop songs.

Küblböck continued to give concerts on a smaller scale. The programs presented mainly consisted of their own titles in English, German and Spanish.

In 2013 he appeared under the name Daniel Kaiser and released the single Be a Man , which should be associated with a further change of image. With this title he applied to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen. However, it was rejected by the Norddeutscher Rundfunk jury . Another attempt by Küblböck to receive a wildcard for the German preselection broadcast via YouTube video also failed.

In 2015 Küblböck took part as a candidate in the eighth season of the RTL show Let's Dance and took sixth place with his dance partner Otlile Mabuse . In 2016 he appeared in the ARD documentary soap Crazy About River .

From September 2015 Küblböck trained as an actor at the European Theater Institute Berlin (ETI). The drama school rejected allegations of bullying expressed by Küblböck, which were published on a Facebook fan page in the summer of 2018 and which he related to his last role, a transvestite.

Since 2017 he has officially appeared as Daniel Kaiser-Küblböck . From 2014 to 2017 he was in a relationship with Robin Gasser.

Entrepreneurial activity

Küblböck invested the income from his album Positive Energie in the amount of around one million euros in a solar system in Lower Bavaria , which brought him high profits. In September 2003 he launched a perfume line for boys and girls in three fragrances under his name. From 2005 to the end of 2013 he was the sole managing director of Positive Energie GmbH Daniel Küblböck , with whom he marketed himself. It was deleted from the commercial register in 2016.

Lost on cruise 2018

In September 2018 Küblböck took part in a private trip from Hamburg to New York on the cruise ship AIDAluna . In the weeks before the cruise, according to his father, those around him noticed a sudden change in personality and psychological problems at Küblböck and tried in vain to prevent the trip. On one with “artist. Actress. Transsexual ”, the unverified Instagram account, he published selfies of himself in women's clothes while driving . According to a passenger who was staying in a neighboring cabin, Küblböck behaved conspicuously and z. B. often talked to oneself.

Küblböck has been missing at sea since September 9, 2018 after jumping overboard at around 4 a.m. ( local time ) off the coast of Newfoundland . The position in the North Atlantic is about 185 km north of St. John's ( Canadian province Newfoundland and Labrador ) in the Labrador Sea . The water temperature in the sea area was around 10 ° C.

At 6 a.m. (local time) the emergency call was received by the Canadian emergency services center in Halifax . The Canadian Coast Guard then launched a search operation with two Coast Guard ships, a surveillance aircraft and a helicopter. The AIDAluna , which returned to the scene of the accident, and the cruise ship Zuiderdam , which was located nearby, also took part in the search. On September 10, 2018, the search for Küblböck was stopped because the maximum survival time in cold water was exceeded. On September 11th, Küblböck's family announced their mourning for their son Daniel on the official website and stated that the hope for the “great miracle” of rescue had not been fulfilled.

According to the Disappearance Act , he can be declared dead on application six months after the accident, i.e. since March 9, 2019 . After several media outlets announced that he wanted to have him declared dead, Küblböck's father denied this in May 2019 and stated that he had no plans to do so. There is still (as of July 2020) a call for tenders (“ yellow corner ” ) via Interpol to search for Küblböck as a missing person.

In August 2020 it was announced that Daniel Küblböck will be declared dead if he does not report to the competent local court in Passau by September 30, 2020.
