The Zuiderdam is a cruise ship of the Holland-America Line and the lead ship of the Vista class .

history

The ship was built as the first ship of the eleven-ship Vista class by Fincantieri in Marghera until 2002 . In February 2005, the ship served as a hotel ship at the Super Bowl in Jacksonville .

In a protest on June 9, 2019, climate activists from the group "SmashCruiseShit" prevented the Zuiderdam from leaving the Kiel cruise port for over six hours . By cruising with boats in front of the bow and climbing mooring ropes and a nearby construction crane. They criticized the increasing climate-damaging emissions from the cruise industry, the often poor working conditions on board and the negative social and ecological consequences of mass tourism on the cruise destinations.
