The Holland-America Line was the Holland-America Lijn one of the leading shipping companies for emigrants from Europe to the United States: From its home port in Rotterdam from transporting them since the late 19th century, Dutch, Belgians, French and also many East Europeans to the United States . After the Second World War, numerous Dutch emigrated to the USA again. After this market switched to airlines, HAL transformed into a cruise line and is now the premium brand of Carnival Corporation & plc .
