Belinda Lee (born June 15, 1935 in Budleigh Salterton , England , † March 12, 1961 in San Bernardino , California , United States ) was a British actress .

Career

Belinda Lee began acting as a teenager at the Tudor Art Academy in Hindhead near London and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London . At the same time she learned typewriter and shorthand at a business school. In 1954 she was hired off the stage by Val Guest , the leader of the Rank organization , for a role in The Runaway Bus . She then received a studio contract and was built up as a rival to Diana Dors . After a few supporting roles, she became more prominent in smaller comedies and crime films. In 1957 she made her first Italian film and played, also because of her presence in the tabloid media (inter alia because of a suicide attempt), as a slut and vamp in Italian, German and French genre productions until her untimely death.

Private

Belinda Lee was married to the photographer Cornel Lucas from 1954 to 1959 . She hit the headlines primarily because of her affair with the Roman prince Orsini and a suicide attempt in 1958.

In 1961, while accompanying producer Gualtiero Jacopetti, she died in a car accident between Las Vegas and Hollywood when a tire burst on her car at a speed of 160 km / h and the car overturned.
