Valleroy is a French municipality with 156 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Valleroy is located at 260 m , about 18 kilometers north-northeast of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends on a hill on the southern edge of the Ognon valley across from Chambornay-lès-Bellevaux, in the far northwest of the Doubs department.
The area of the 3.05 km² municipal area covers a section of the Ognon Valley. The western and northern borders run along the Ognon, which flows here with large river loops through a flat valley that is around one to two kilometers wide. Former gravel pits in the valley were filled with water. From the course of the river, the community area extends south over the wide floodplain into a gently undulating landscape, which is partly made up of arable and meadow land, and further to the east mainly forest ( Bois du Chanoi , Bois de la Chaille ). At 278 m, the highest point in Valleroy is reached on a hill in the Bois du Chanoi.
The neighboring communities of Valleroy are Cirey in the north, Rigney in the east, Thurey-le-Mont in the south and Chambornay-lès-Bellevaux in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Valleroy was under the rule of the Bellevaux Abbey. Together with Franche-Comté , the village finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
Attractions
The so-called Château is a mansion built at the end of the 19th century in a park with an orangery.

Since then the number of inhabitants has almost tripled.
Economy and Infrastructure
Valleroy was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) well into the 20th century. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is located away from the larger thoroughfares. The village can be reached either from Moncey or from Cirey. The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around twelve kilometers away.
