Don't Close Your Eyes is a song by the German pop group 4 United , which was released as a single on November 22, 2004 in Germany , Austria and Switzerland and November 29, 2004 in Finland .
Background, production and publication
The music producer David Brandes founded the project “4 United” with Daniel Küblböck , Gracia Baur , Nektarios Bamiatzis and Stephanie Brauckmeyer, all participants in the first season of the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar . Don't Close Your Eyes was written by Bernd Augener , David Brandes and Jane Tempest. Brandes composed the melody in his recording studio, Bros Music Studio.
The single appeared in two editions, in addition to the standard version, a maxi single was released. The maxi version also contains the music video of the title, in which the band members of "4 United" and needy children from Africa are shown alternately. The lyrics are printed in the booklet of the single. Was published Do not Close Your Eyes from Brandes' own label Bros Music . On the cover of the single you can see the four photos of the faces of the band members. Below these pictures are two children's hands, which should symbolize the fight against poverty and violence against children. The song also appeared on Gracia Baur's album Passion in 2005 ; here Baur sings the song alone.
Chart placements
Don't Close Your Eyes was advertised as a benefit single, as 50 cents were donated to the aid organization Doctors Without Borders for each copy of the single sold . The song entered the German single charts at number 18 on December 6, 2004, and one day later in Austria at position 50.
