Otlile "Oti" Mabuse (born August 8, 1990 in Pretoria , South Africa ) is a South African dancer and dance sports trainer .

life and career

Mabuse grew up in South Africa and studied civil engineering there.

She started dancing at the age of four, and it was at that age that she played her first dance tournament. Mabuse has been dancing with the Romanian dance athlete Marius Iepure , with whom she is also married , since December 2012 . The couple competed for the TSC Rot-Gold-Casino Nürnberg , initially in the main group S-Latin. In the summer of 2014, the couple moved to the Professional Division of the German Dance Sports Association . In March 2017, the couple announced the end of their dance careers together after Mabuse was unable to maintain training due to obligations in the UK related to Strictly Come Dancing , the UK version of Let's Dance .

Let's dance

In 2015 she took part in the eighth season of the RTL dance show Let's Dance . With the singer Daniel Küblböck she reached 6th place. In the same year Mabuse and the boxer Anthony Ogogo participated in the 13th season of Strictly Come Dancing and dropped out after the second round. In 2016 she danced two rounds with the presenter Niels Ruf at Let's Dance . In 2016 she took second place with actor Danny Mac in the 14th season of Strictly Come Dancing . In early 2017 she again took part in The Live Tour with Danny Mac ! 2,017 of Strictly Come Dancing and won them. In the 15th season of Strictly Come Dancing , her dance partner was the disabled runner Jonnie Peacock, with whom she finished eighth. A year later she came in seventh place with cricketer Graeme Swann.

Otlile Mabuse is the daughter of a teacher and a lawyer and the youngest of three sisters. She is the sister of the South African dancer, dance trainer and judge for standard and Latin American dances Motsi Mabuse , who participates as a juror in both Let's Dance and the British version Strictly Come Dancing .
