Niels Ruf (born May 21, 1973 in Worms ) is a German television presenter , author and actor .

Life

Niels Ruf attended the Rhein-Wied-Gymnasium Neuwied . After working for the Rhein-Zeitung for a year, at the age of 21 he was appointed by ZDF to host the video game show X Base . He then became the presenter of the call-in-show Niels' Ruf des DSF . The show was canceled after nine episodes, according to Ruf's later statements, “because of blasphemy ”. At the same time he wrote scripts and produced feature films for the children's show Clubhouse .

Ruf temporarily worked as a freelancer for Focus TV and also received engagements as an actor. In 1996 he worked in the Sat.1 film Charley's Tante . This was followed by a supporting role in the comedy film And all because of mom (1998).

In 1998, Ruf received the broadcast Kamikaze after a casting on the station VIVA Zwei , which he moderated and produced. His provocative monologues and announcements were characterized as "rabble", and Ruf was described as a "sex piglet" and "scandal moderator".

In 2000 he recorded the song Computerstaat from Abwärts with WestBam for the compilation Pop 2000 - that's only available once . An appearance on the Harald Schmidt Show and last but not least a short liaison with comedian Anke Engelke in 2000 helped him to become more well known . In June 2001, Ruf came under public fire when, according to a report by Bild, he joked about skin cancer - Illness of a colleague is said to have made, which offered an opportunity to want to put him in front of the door at VIVA Zwei. However, according to the judicial determination, this was a false claim.

In December 2001 Universal Mercury released the DVD Niels Ruf - Pest of Kamikaze 1998-2001 with excerpts from the show and previously unreleased scenes.

From February 2002 Ruf on RTL II got a new program (Dumm caught) , in which he commented on scenes with a hidden camera. In 2002 he appeared in a supporting role in the film Like the Rabbits .

Niels Ruf was one of the two managing directors of Weltruf GmbH, which he co-founded in 1999. He worked as a columnist a. a. for the music magazine Intro , the weekly newspaper Die Zeit and the magazine Maxim . From October 30, 2006, Niels Ruf presented The Niels Ruf Show on the digital subscription channel Sat.1 Comedy .

In 2007 he played in the sitcom Duke the lead role as nasty divorce lawyer Simon C. Herzog. The series was canceled after three episodes broadcast due to poor audience ratings . In 2008 the Niels-Ruf-Show ran on Sat.1, which was withdrawn from the program prematurely in the same year due to poor ratings. In February 2008 the takeover of 51% of Weltruf TV GmbH by Senator Entertainment was announced. Weltruf GmbH filed for bankruptcy at the end of 2008 . Senator Entertainment announced on November 21, 2008 that the takeover of the 51% stake in Weltruf TV GmbH was being reversed.

After the Niels Ruf Show was often criticized due to its low audience ratings, Niels Ruf decided to take new steps in advance exclusively on the Internet. The web show entitled Looki Looki could be seen for free at 3min.de. There was no camera team and no studio; instead, a camera attached to the glasses was used for filming. Telekom discontinued the 3min.de project at the end of May 2011.

In 2012 the web series Josef Gyrls - Daughter of Freedom was published by Arte Creative , a mockumentary in which Ruf satirizes the art business in the role of an artist.

In the spring of 2014 reputation participated in the Sat.1 telecast Kitchen Hell's part. In the fifth episode, he was eliminated due to an injury. In March 2016 Ruf danced at Let's Dance and was eliminated in the second round.

After negative comments on Twitter about Roger Cicero's death , he was heavily criticized in the media. His management then separated from him.
