The Niels Ruf Show was the first self-produced late night show on the subscription broadcaster Sat.1 Comedy . The format was later adopted by Sat.1 in the program.

Niels Ruf , the eponymous presenter of the show, was supported in the first season by Peter Rütten , who previously worked for the Harald Schmidt Show and then worked for the successor format Schmidt & Pocher , as a sidekick and editor in the studio. In the second season he was no longer involved and switched to Kruger Week . Until 2008, in order to get on the show, everyone had to pass the security check carried out by Agnieszka Hendel , who was Playmate of the Year in 2006 . However, this has not been included since 2008. Sven Schuhmacher is also involved in the show. The show has initially aired every Monday from 9 p.m. since October 30, 2006. The new season started on October 5, 2007 on a new slot on Friday at 8:15 pm. As an innovation, there was also a musical guest in each broadcast this season.

The show also included the show band led by actor and musician Toni Snétberger , who can also be seen in the role of Enzo Letter in Lindenstraße . After Peter Rütten left the show, Toni Snétberger switched more and more to the role of the sidekick . However, this has been replaced by a so-called "Showband in Residence" since the second season on free TV. This role has so far been taken over by the bands P-lot and Stanfour , for example .

The show has also been on free TV since April 18, 2008, every Friday at 11:15 p.m. on Sat.1. From May 23, 2008, however, due to persistently poor ratings, the show was moved to the night program for one hour at 00:15. Although both quota and market share improved here, the show was moved back one day of the week on June 28, 2008 and ran on Saturdays at 00:15. Since July 2008 it has been running on Sat.1 at 0:05 a.m. on Saturdays. Despite the broadcast on the mother station Sat.1, the subscription broadcaster repeated the show as usual several times during the week. The show was last broadcast on October 18, 2008 due to consistently low ratings.

The show was produced by the Berlin- based Weltruf TV GmbH , in which Niels Ruf, producer Stefan Kiwit and Senator Entertainment AG hold shares.

criticism

In a review of the first program, the journalist of the Süddeutsche Zeitung Tomasz Kurianowicz called him "vulgar, silly and unspontaneous". "Sexist jokes" were "the linchpin of the show".
