Media cow

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Medien-KuH is a German-language podcast by Kevin Körber and Dominik Hammes that has existed since 2009 . The idiosyncratic spelling is derived from the surnames of the protagonists ("Körber and Hammes"), which consistently sifted in the podcast.

content

The Medien-KuH was originally planned as a podcast on "film, radio and television", but now it mainly deals with media topics from the categories of TV and film . An episode is an average of two hours long, with two to three episodes per month as a rule. On special occasions, there are also live episodes as well as special episodes, such as interviews (with Olli Schulz , Jan Böhmermann or Micaela Schäfer, among others ) or audio commentary on films. In total, over 350 regular episodes have already appeared ( as of August 2020). In each broadcast, a "Cow of the Week" is awarded to a much discussed media topic of the week, whereby the price is neither exclusively a positive nor a negative price. Other regular rubrics include:

  • Quota tip: the audience ratings for upcoming TV programs are predicted
  • Title dirt: on the basis of secured titles in the title protection notice, guesses are made as to what might be hidden behind the title (TV show, film, book, etc.)
  • Star Wars news of the week: due to Kevin Körber's low level of interest in Star Wars, an initially ironic section in which Dominik Hammes announces news about the Star Wars franchise

Returning guests of the podcast are Christoph Mathieu , Nilz Bokelberg and Anja Räßler.

reception

According to the company, the number of hits in 2014 was between 7,000 and 10,000 for one episode. In a poll by the technology magazine Wired , the podcast landed ninth in the most popular podcasts in 2015.

Cow of the year

At the end of the year, all "KuH of the Week" winners will be selected for a year-long title holder by community voting. The initiators ironically call the award the "most important media award in Europe" based on a tweet by the award winner Niels Ruf . The prize is a golden figure of a cow.
