Golden Camera 2017

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The awarding of the Golden Camera 2017 took place on March 4, 2017 for the third time at the Hamburg Messe in Hamburg . It was the 52nd award of this award. Steven Gätjen took over the moderation for the first time . The ceremony was live on prime time in the ZDF broadcast. The broadcast was seen by 3.09 million viewers, which corresponds to an audience rate of 10.4%.

General

For the first time in 2017, the " Golden Camera Digital Awards " were given for special achievements in the network.

A presentation by Annette Frier and Matthias Matschke was criticized as racist in Missy Magazine . At one performance, the two satirized an African dance and presented rituals and rites as something that only occurs among indigenous peoples. The performance made use of colonial clichés.

Gosling Gate

The awarding of the Golden Camera 2017 caused a sensation, as the producers of the program Circus HalliGalli succeeded in receiving the Golden Camera award in the category “Best International Film”. For this purpose, they had advertised their alleged client Ryan Gosling in the usual industry newsletters on behalf of the bogus artist agency “Conrad Hertz & Gravemann” . At the time, he was already doing an advertising shoot in Germany and could still take part in television events in the evening. The Funke Mediengruppe , as the organizer of the golden camera , agreed to award the award to Gosling despite very strict requirements on the part of the artist agency and initial hesitation. For the live broadcast of the award ceremony, the Circus HalliGalli team managed to smuggle in a Ryan Gosling doppelganger and have him accept the award. That this was a prank only became apparent when the double's speech was given in broken English.

"Good evening. I'm Ryan Gosling. I'm dedicate this award to Joko and Klaas. Thank you. In Hamburg they say: Tschüüüß ”

"Good evening. I am Ryan Gosling. I dedicate this award to Joko and Klaas. Thank you. In Hamburg they say: Tschüüüß "

- Ludwig Lehner as Ryan Gosling

The Funke media group then announced a revision of their security concept and demanded the price back so that it could be handed over to the real Ryan Gosling. At the end of March they returned the award “and added the second most important media award in the world” - the Golden Umberto from Circus HalliGalli.

As a result of the event, a controversy arose over the procedure for events of this type in general. The central point of criticism was that the selection of the award winners is not infrequently based on the availability of celebrities for such programs or, as in this case, even additional price categories are invented in order to be able to win a certain person for the program. The Funke Mediengruppe, the organizer of the award, announced on March 6, 2017 that Ryan Gosling had been at the top of the editors' list for a golden camera since the end of 2016, but that it was not possible to admit him to the event win. When an agency offered to broker Gosling at the beginning of February, however, the eligible category Best Actor International had already been awarded to Colin Farrell, which is why it was decided to award La La Land in the category of Best Film internationally and the award to Ryan Gosling to hand over. This is not an unusual practice.

Circus HalliGalli was awarded the Grimme Prize for this in 2018 .
