Smudo (* 6. March 1968 in Offenbach am Main , also SMUDO , microphone Professor Smudo bourgeois; Michael Bernd Schmidt ) is a German writer and rapper of the hip-hop - band The Fantastic Four , he also works as a voice actor and actor .

Life

From the mid-1970s, Smudo lived with his parents and brother in Gerlingen , where he graduated from high school in 1988 . After graduation, he went to the USA with Thomas D for three and a half months . Smudo's musical career began in 1986 when he founded the Terminal Team with Andreas Rieke . At the same time he started programming on the C64 ; several of his programs have been published on INPUT 64 . In 1989 Michael Beck and Thomas D joined the Terminal Team and from then on they were called Die Fantastischen Vier . The artist name “Smudo” has its origins in school in Gerlingen: Back then he liked to get up just before school started and then neglect his appearance. Based on his surname, he was nicknamed "Schmuddel", which over the years became "Smudo".

Inspired by the racing simulation Grand Prix Legends , Smudo acquired the DMSB license in the International C category from the Zakspeed racing school in 1999 and has been active in racing ever since. As early as 2000 he was invited to participate in the VIP car at the Porsche Cup as part of the German Grand Prix in the preliminary program of the F1 . Later he took part several times at the Nürburgring at VLN - and 24h races on the famous Nordschleife , first with a VW New Beetle biodiesel that is filled with rapeseed oil (or rap oil, as he says). Since the 2007 season, Smudo started for the Four Motors racing team , whose team boss is Thomas von Löwis of Menar , with a Ford Mustang known as a bioconcept car. He also competed in a Mustang in the 2008 24-hour race, but retired early. Since 2009, Four Motors has been racing with a Renault Mégane Trophy with a diesel engine, which is filled with 30% biodiesel and, like the Mustang, has a body made of natural fiber composite. From 2011 to 2013 he drove for Four Motors with a 2l-4cyl-VW-Scirocco, the so-called “Bio-Rocco”, endurance cup races and 24-hour races on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. FourMotors has been racing with Smudo in a Porsche Cayman GT4 on the Nordschleife since 2016. This vehicle runs on 30% bioethanol petrol. In 2017, the team won their AT class and finished the 24h race at the Nürburgring in 46th place overall.

Furthermore, Smudo has had a flight license since 2005 and was in possession of a four-seat Beechcraft Bonanza (D-EIZK). In 2006 he obtained his aerobatic license on a Zlín 526 . He acquired the instrument rating ( instrument flight license) in 2009. Since 2012 he has been flying a twin-engine Piper PA-34 Seneca V220T built in 1998 (D-GIPA) instead of the Bonanza .

Smudo has lived in Hamburg since 1996 , has been married since 2006 and has three daughters (* 2007, * 2010 and * 2017).

music

In addition to the Fantastischen Vier, Smudo took part in several projects, including the first records in the jazz canteen . As a solo artist he has so far only published the song Rudi as part of Pop 2000 , the original of which is by Herwig Mitteregger .

Furthermore, Smudo held his Dee-Jaying Chez Le Smou in Hamburg from 1998 to 2008 in the Hamburg Prinzenbar. Since 2008 he has been playing in selected clubs. A fusion of 1980s / 90s rap with 1970s soul / RnB and 2000s black music interspersed with weird ska / reggae / funk is to be expected. Since 2007 he has been resident DJ at the annual Baltic Soul Weekender .
