On the cover, Sido claims to be accompanied by almost all of his favorite rappers. On October 18, the music video for 30-11-80 premiered and on November 29, 2013 the song was released along with the album 30-11-80 . Due to the large number of rappers involved from the German rap scene, which had been divided for years, the song received special media attention. It was not released as a single and was the only track on the album of the same name that was not available digitally.

background

In the summer of 2013, Sido announced that he would like to publish his fifth studio album entitled "30-11-80", his date of birth, in the same year. On September 13, 2013, Sido announced an “unprecedented posse track with 16 German rappers” for the album on Facebook . He then announced on Twitter that this song would contain the majority of his personal favorite rappers and that an American rapper would also be added. When the music video was released on October 18, it turned out that this song should be the title track of the album and that apart from Sido even 18 other rappers would be involved in it.

In an interview with the music journalist Falk Schacht , Sido stated that one of his personal favorite rappers, for example, his Deine Favorite Rapper collaboration partner Harris was not featured on the song “30-11-80” because he “did not appear”. Likewise, a participation of the Offenbach rapper arrest warrant in the song was also planned by Sidos. However, he did not want to be represented on a song together with some of the other artists involved. According to several interviews, Sido had expected a similar reaction from Bushido. However, it was very important to him to be involved in the song. Sido had also thought about a performance by Samy Deluxe , but rejected this idea in view of personal ambiguities between the two.

According to Sido's statement, “30-11-80” was also about making it clear to him that the German rap scene had overcome a period of deep hostility. Although the "30-11-80" more in the Beef -imprinted early 2000s in the meantime another verfehdete rappers are represented together, Sido had therefore only with members of the rival in 90s rap formations Fantastic Four and Rödelheim rhyme project , Smudo and Moses Pelham, still thought that "30-11-80" could eliminate existing fronts. The conception of the song is also based on so-called "possetracks" based on the American model, such as the 5 Boroughs by KRS-One , Buckshot , Cam'ron , Keith Murray , Killah Priest , Prodigy , Redman , Run and Vigilante, inspired.

  • For Afrob, Dokter Renz and Smudo, "30-11-80" was the first musical collaboration with Sido.
  • BK was part of the ORF 1 broadcast, Blockstars - Sido makes band and the resulting music group 3punkt5 , moderated by Sido .
  • In 2012 Moses Pelham recorded a Sido sample for the title Hoo on his studio album Geiles Leid III .
  • Erick Sermon is featured on the soundtrack to Sido's film Blutzbrüdaz with the solo title Make Room .
  • All other participating artists had previously recorded at least one song with Sido.

Emergence

A joint studio recording of the rappers involved did not take place at 30-11-80 . Instead, they were responsible for recording the individual contributions. Sido took over the organizational supervision and asked some artists about their participation only after the contributions of other rappers represented on 30-11-80 had already been completed.

content

Even though the song title 30-11-80 and Sido's invitation to a guest contribution for several stanzas, such as those by Eko Fresh, Nazar, BK, Dr. Renz and B-Tight, forming a rough framework, altogether the content of the song alternates several times between genre-typical self-portrayal and references to Sido's career. In the latter respect, the guest contribution by Laas Unltd, which is composed almost entirely of different titles from Sido's discography , stands out in particular . This makes reference to the songs I hate you , you have made me so , downhill , standing back on , Get in , so I'll do it , Born to be free , I have no regrets , Hol but the police , bad role model , my Jordans , Carmen , pictures in my head , my testament , heaven should wait , mom is proud , eyes open , fuffies in the club and when that's all . Smudo and Dr. Renz refer to the Sido title Mama is proud or pictures in the head .

In addition, 30-11-80 contains some internal German rap references. Afrob's contribution contains an allusion to his own title Where are the rappers going and MoTrip's verse to the Max Herre song Rap is, which he made with his participation . Olli Banjo also refers to Kaas , Afrob to the Berlin rap battle format Rap on Wednesday and Erick Sermon to the US rapper Kendrick Lamar . In his verse, Bushido allegedly alludes to personal protection , under which his former protégé Kay One , according to media reports, has been placed by the Berlin State Criminal Police Office since a testimony against the Bushido-affiliated Abou Chaker clan .

In addition, the song contains allusions to contemporary personalities such as Cesar Millan , Michael Phelps , Serkan Tören , Lena Meyer-Landrut and Halle Berry as well as pop culture objects such as the series character Steve Urkel , Donatella Versace (In Eko Freshs part as "Döner-Teller Versace) South Park figure Cartman or the constructed language of the Star Trek series, Klingon .
