Nimo (born December 25, 1995 in Karlsruhe ; real name is Nima Yaghobi , Persian : نیما یعقوبی) is a German rapper of Iranian descent. He is under contract with the Frankfurt independent label 385idéal in cooperation with the major label Universal Music .

Life and music career

Nimo was born to Iranian parents in Karlsruhe , where he also spent the first years of his life. He later moved to Leonberg with his parents . At the age of 15, he had to go to juvenile prison for a long period of time due to several offenses (for example: robbery extortion ) . According to himself, he started rapping in prison. He got his stage name from another rapper (Samy; AON), who was also imprisoned at the time.

Frankfurter Celo & Abdi later became aware of him through Nimo's Facebook rap videos. They invited Nimo to their tour, where Nimo performed with them. On February 26, 2016, Nimo released his debut mixtape Habeebeee . His music mainly focuses on street life, crime and drug use in his childhood.

From September 30th to October 15th, 2016 Nimo's first own tour called "Jaaaaa Maaaann Habeebeee Tour" took place together with Hanybal . On April 24, 2017, LFR (Lass Fotzen Reden) was released as the first single from his debut album Kiki (stylized K¡K¡ ), which was released in 2017 and also reached the top 10 of the German charts. With the second single from the album Today with Me , Nimo reached the top 10 of the German single charts for the first time in June 2017.

In 2018 he and Capo announced their collaboration album Capimo , with which they want to build on the success of the joint single Lambo Diablo GT on Capo's album Alles auf Rot , which received platinum status in 2019 and a triple gold award in 2020 for 600,000 units sold . The album was finally released in March 2019 and landed at number 7 on the German album charts. It was criticized by many fans and rap journalists and perceived "negatively" especially in comparison to the solo albums of both artists.

In June 2019 Nimo was featured as a feature guest on the song Royal Rumble (with Kalazh44 , Luciano , Capital Bra , Samra ). With the single, Nimo was able to place itself at number 1 in the single charts.

In the further course Nimo also announced his third solo album Nimoriginal . The first single, Karma , rose to number 4 in the German single charts and stayed in the top 10 of the charts for four weeks. The rapper Hava is featured as a feature guest on the second single Kein Schlaf . The music video received over a million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours. Ultimately, the song rose to number 1 in the German single charts. For Nimo it is the first number 1 hit as lead interpreter.

In December 2019, Nimo released his album Nimoriginal . In addition to his past and street issues, he also increasingly deals with topics such as love and relationships.

In several interviews, Nimo also said that he had gone through a lifestyle within a year. He is also free from any drugs.

In 2020 Nimo released the singles Just because of you , Remember and Ya Mas5ara . He also published a documentary that illuminates his past and his career and where numerous musicians and his father had their say. In April 2020 he will announce his mixtape Capricorn . At the beginning of May he brought out the video single Trendsetter with the Frankfurt rapper Rina. Rina was previously featured on two tracks on Nimoriginal .
