Cam'ron
Cam'ron (born February 4, 1976 in Harlem , New York ; real name Cameron Ezike Giles ), also Killa Cam , is an American rapper .
biography
Giles grew up in Harlem / New York. In Harlem he founded the group Children of the Corn with rappers Ma $ e (then Murder Mase), Big L and Bloodshed . They separated after a short time after Bloodshed died in a car accident.
However, it was through Mase that Giles met The Notorious BIG , who introduced him to his business partner Lance “Un” Riviera. This gave Giles a record deal with his label Untertainment, whose releases were distributed by Epic Records . Under the name Cam'ron some singles were released from May 1998 , of which Horse & Carriage featuring Mase was the most successful. Later that year, Cam'ron's debut album Confessions of Fire was released, which was awarded a gold record by the RIAA . His second full- length player, SDE , followed in 2000, the abbreviation for “Sports, Drugs and Entertainment” standing for “Sports, Drugs and Entertainment”.
Cam'ron then moved to Jay-Z's Roc-a-Fella Records , where he released his most successful album Come Home with Me , which went platinum by the RIAA. In the course of this success, his collective The Diplomats established itself in the hip-hop scene, around which a hype arose in the mid- 2000s and which set some trends with their own clothing and rap styles , from which Jim Jones and Juelz Santana in particular benefited commercially .
After the release of Cam'ron's fourth studio album, Purple Haze , there was a disagreement with Jay-Z and Cam'ron left Roc-a-Fella. On the one hand, an incident in 2006 caused a stir in which Cam'ron was shot in a carjacking attempt on him, but still managed to drive to the hospital with a gunshot wound in his arm and on the other hand the Diss You Gotta Love It , addressed to Jay-Z. Although the latter generated a great response in internet forums and on mixtapes , the associated album Killa Season - which was accompanied by a direct-to-DVD film of the same name - was still able to position itself at number 2 on the Billboard 200 , but not reach the sales figures of its predecessors .
This development continued with the work Crime Pays , which appeared in 2009 , and then Cam'ron only released the two collab albums Heat in Here, Vol. 1 and Gunz n 'Butta with Vado in 2010 and 2011 .
