Consequence (born June 14, 1977 ; actually Dexter Raymond Mills Jr. ) is an American rapper from the New York borough of Queens .

biography

Consequence was an unofficial member of the A-Tribe-Called-Quest crew. After the crew split up in 1998, he switched from label to label, but was never lucky. After many successful mixtape releases ( All Sales Are Final , Make the Game Come to You , Take 'Em to the Cleaners , The Comeback Kid , A Tribe Called Quence: 1995-2004 ), which were already known as mixtape classics in hip Hop world, Kanye West finally noticed him. They met in 2002 through his producer and friend 88 Keys. This is how his music career began. Consequence signed in 2005 with the label GOOD Music, newly founded by Kanye West .

Consequence is the cousin of the rapper Q-Tip .

In 2007 his first album, Don't Quit Your Day Job , was released, on which John Legend , DJ Khaled and Kanye West are among others with guest contributions. It reached number 12 on the rap charts and number 113 on the official US album charts . However, it remained the only album on West's label that he left in 2011. Two years later he was in the singles charts again with Kanye West when the song Gone from his 2005 album Late Registration briefly achieved late popularity through a video clip.
