DCVDNS (2013)

DCVDNS (born February 20, 1988 in St. Ingbert , Saarland ) is a German rapper and founder of the music label Rat-a-tat Records .

Career

DCVDNS first became known as part of the hip-hop formation Die Coole Gang , with which he has shot a series of videos since 2007 and published them on the video platform YouTube . In early 2010 he recorded an album for private use under the title St. Dengbertdrama , which was not released as a commercial release. With remember do not do not worry as long as the Nutella tastes of shit was the end of 2010 published his first music video. This was followed at the beginning of 2011 by the videos Pimp Yannic and 23 as well as A Dealer Paying Bar , which until 2012 was based on the series Halt die Fresse on the Aggro.TV website under the title Halt die Fresse 03 - No. 78 .

At the end of May 2011, the Osnabrück-based music distributor Distributionz announced that it would distribute DCVDNS 'upcoming album. At the same time, the music video Mörderfurz appeared , in which the Berlin rappers MC Basstard and Blokkmonsta appeared. Basstard then signed him to his newly founded music label Dark Matter . As part of MC Basstard's “Weiss Tour”, DCVDNS then appeared as support at three concerts . On December 16, 2011, the rapper released the free EP Can You Keep , which includes the songs from his videos. The only exception is the track You don't worry as long as the Nutella doesn't taste like shit is not included, as DCVDNS wanted to re-record it for its debut album.

At the beginning of January, DCVDNS announced its first album, entitled Glasses , for February 10, 2012. The release date was postponed a short time later with reference to the parallel album of the rapper Haftbefehl for two weeks. A video was created for the song Mein Mercedes , which was published in early 2012. Furthermore, the piece What's Tweef? Provided free of charge on the 16bars.de website. With Help, I'm Threatened , another video was released from the album in mid-February.

On February 24th, DCVDNS 'album Glasses on Dark Matter was released . This was created within a period of two weeks in MC Basstard's studio. On glasses hip-hop musicians are gynecologist , Boba Fettt , Justus , Hermann Weiss, Wolfgang H, Smoe83, Tamas , Trip and MC Basstard represented with guest contributions. In addition, DCVDNS was able to win Jörg Stuttmann , the German voice actor for the character Eric Cartman from the series South Park . The production of the beats and the mixing were done by Wolfgang H. Glasses were able to position themselves at number 57 on the album charts.

From September 7th to October 12th, 2012 DCVDNS accompanied the musicians Frauenarzt, Manny Marc , DJ Reckless , Smoky and Sady K of the group Die Atzen together with the formations Durstlöscher and Keule as part of the “Atzen Music Vol. 3 Tour”. Another tour followed from October 20 to December 29, 2012. This was completed by DCVDNS under the title “People, Animals, AKKtractions” with the formations 257ers and Genetikk . This was followed by a third tour accompanied by Kool Savas as part of the “Why are you rapping? Trip". With Laas Unltd. , Architect and Montez accompanied three other rappers to the concerts. In the run-up to the tour, there was a joint piece entitled Why do you rap? recorded and implemented as a video.

DCVDNS at the Out4Fame Festival 2015

In mid-January 2013, DCVDNS announced its second album entitled The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing for May 2013. Two months later, the rapper announced the postponement of the release. On May 2nd, DCVDNS appeared for the first time in Stefan Raab's late night show TV total . In mid-May 2013, one of his videos in the US comedy show Tosh.0 the television channel Comedy Central aired. The rapper also performed at the hip-hop and reggae festival Splash! on. At the Bundesvision Song Contest 2013 on September 26th, Nate Dogg actually wanted to sing the hook for the Saarland and took 5th place.

On November 7, 2014, Big Bad Birds, a joint album by DCVDNS, Hermann Weiss and Wolfgang H., was released under the Crewnname Inglebirds . On the same day, his first appearance was in the support act of rapper Cro , who hired him as support for his Mello tour 2014/15. With their song Getti , the group took part in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2014 for Saarland on September 20 and finished in 14th place.

The seven-part series Jesus Christoph Rap , which shows episodes from his life in the style of a scripted reality show, has been broadcast on his YouTube channel every Sunday since January 3, 2015 . In the seventh and final episode, which was uploaded on February 15th, he announced that he wanted to write a new album. This should not have a deadline, but should only appear when it is "really finished".

At the end of August 2015, DCVDNS signed a contract with Universal Urban .

On December 31, 2016, DCVDNS reported back with a video message on YouTube and announced a new album with a short fade-in with Der first tight Wei $$ e , which was released on July 7, 2017.

style

Until the appearance of DWIS , DCVDNS used a red tank top from the clothing brand Lacoste and glasses as its trademarks. With these he appeared in his videos and at concerts. According to his own statement, the glasses serve as a “mask” through which he cannot be recognized privately. He has not performed with the tank top since 2013. DCVDNS used a visit to TV Total in May 2013, where he gave Stefan Raab his “only” tank top, as a way of integrating this break into its external image.

Another characteristic is the rapper's humor. This comes into play both in his texts and in his videos. In interviews, the rapper often gives misleading answers. Since he makes statements that are absurd in terms of content without any emotional impetus, many statements cannot be distinguished as fact or joke. For example, he names the music of Iron Maiden as the reason for his work as a rapper or he says he wants to live from smoking in the future. The conversation for interviews was made more difficult by the fact that DCVDNS was accompanied by his "lawyer" - represented by the rapper Hermann Weiss, who also supports him on stage - who refused many questions for various, equally absurd legal reasons . This is to be interpreted as a protective mechanism so that DCVDNS could escape questions that let him fall out of his role (compare Sacha Baron Cohen , who, during interviews during the impersonation of his fictional characters Borat and Brüno, had the questions selected beforehand and deliberately ignored objections that had not been agreed. )

Thematically, many of the DCVDNS song texts revolve around the particular image it represents. The songs Pullunder and Brille und Brille on the first album revolve around his external identifying features at the time, while in Here everyone can dance from the same album he portrays himself as a bourgeois alien to youth culture according to his appearance; on DWIS he states that he only pretended to infiltrate the scene, and accordingly glorifies his gangsterism in an absurdly exaggerated way ( Kein Gee , Frankfurt Zoo ).

His work is stylistically diversified. Many of his songs are related to the songs of other artists or certain genres ( ZDS from the album Brille is lyrically and musically based on LMS by Kool Savas , the style of the song Do you still know ? By DWIS is assigned to the West Coast style of the 80s ), with DCVDNS defending himself from the claim that he wanted to make fun of said styles or hip-hop itself; his ridicule, on the other hand, applies to the exaggerated, unreflective self-exaggeration of other rappers. When Silla described DCVDNS as “ridiculous for rap” in a video interview and he “doesn't raise the overall impression”, DCVDNS replied with the disstrack Bravo was censored in which he described all (German) gangsterism as ridiculous: “I'm supposed to be ridiculous be for German rap? // Well, then I fit in extremely perfectly! // Nobody here who even seems deceptively real. // How stupid your fans can be! ”Elsewhere he described himself as“ the smallest embarrassment there is in rap ”, which again shows that his ironic presentation precedes the imitation of American rapper clichés.

There are also isolated songs in which the lyrics deal with social isolation, depression and dissatisfaction with the life of a musician (e.g. Solange die Nutella ... , Why , the first verse of DCVDNA ), whereby due to the above-mentioned special humor it always remains open to what extent these are serious statements or irony .

Surname

The artist name DCVDNS was reinterpreted several times, so it initially stood for "The cool one from the new school", then DCVDNS stated that it was created by a tap on the keyboard. As the latest version, DCVDNS on TV totally stated that it was the abbreviation for his supposedly real name Dominik Christoph from the North Sea .

reception

In an article by Spiegel Online about the rapper, he is described as a "rap antihero" who parodies the "common hip-hop clichés". DCVDNS still takes hip-hop seriously. After the release of the single The First Tight White , DCVDNS came under criticism for its use of the word nigga , which led to a widespread discussion in the media about the use of racist terms in rap texts.
