The original three members Mike Rohleder, Daniel "Schneisinger" Schneider and Kolja "Keule" Scholz come from the Essen district of Kupferdreh , from whose zip code 45257 the name of the group is derived. "257" was originally created in 1997 as a name for a graffiti crew, from which Keule, Mike and Schneisinger later broke up and founded a hip-hop group in 2005 under the name "257ers". Initially, the group only published mixtapes for free download . In 2007, Mit Essen does not play the first publication. This was followed in April 2008 by the mixtape Scheiß auf Rappen , on which the 257ers used the term “Akk!” For the first time, which functions as a “battle cry” and universal substitute word and is frequently used in the group's texts. The rappers Starfaze, Jason and Favorite are featured on the mixtape with guest contributions. In particular, the collaboration with Favorite was subsequently intensified. At the end of 2008 the EP Tracksdien wasn't released well enough for the new album . In addition, the rappers from 257ers participated in the third part of the hip-hop battle series Feuer über Deutschland . Both Schneisinger and Keule also contributed to the publication Beats for Hip Hop by rappers Favorite and Hollywood Hank . Schneisinger was also responsible for the mastering of the mixtape released via Selfmade Records .

In April 2009, the 257ers' first album was released for free download under the title Hokus Pokus . For the group's online shop, the album was also released commercially as the so-called “Spätzle Edissn”. Videos were made for four songs by Hokus Pokus . These are Läckmiamarsh , Personal Wake Up Call , Rainbow and No Fick on School , another collaboration with Favorite. In April 2010, the EP Smegma followed as the first solo release by Shneezin / Schneisinger. The EP was also available as a download and contains guest contributions by Keule, Mike and Favorite. Schneisinger also accompanied Favorite and Kollegah on the “Teens for Cash” concert tour. On November 11, 2010, the second album Zwen was released. This was produced by Psaiko.Dino , Krizz Dallas, Marvelous, Johnny Illstrument Voddi, Josen and Delicious. Favorite and Ras Timbo appear as guest rappers. Pieces 257 is the boss and three pink ribbons were released as videos. In addition, the group presented the song Our arms are weak as part of the video series Halt die Fresse from Aggro.TV . In 2011 the group was featured on the favorites album Christoph Alex . The common song Ne Pille was also implemented as a video.

From March 30th to May 5th 2012, 257ers completed a joint tour with Favorite. The 22-concert tour was organized under the title “Bicycle Tour 2012”. At the same time as the tour, the hip-hop label Selfmade Records announced that the members of the 257ers had been signed. The actual contract was signed in October 2011. The hip-hop group Genetikk also received a contract with Selfmade Records after the 257ers . Since the duo had already finished work on their album, this was preferred. In mid-July, 257ers performed at the Splash! on. Furthermore, the group's third album was released on September 7, 2012 under the title HRNSHN . The song Auseinanda was released as a single. A related video was also shot. Furthermore, videos appeared for the songs Scheißegal , Spinat , Over all mountains , Side by Side and Go Ninja . HRNSHN entered the German album charts at number 6. The album was ranked 24th in Austria and 60th in Switzerland. In mid-October 2012, a video for the song Saber-Toothed Tiger RMX was released, on which the rappers BattleBoi Basti , Weekend , 4Tune, Duzoe and Milo are represented in addition to 257ers .

In addition to their label contract, the members of the trio signed a publishing contract with the media group BMG Germany in October . From October 20 to December 29, 2012, a concert tour with the duo Genetikk and DCVDNS followed under the title “Menschen, Tiere, AKKtraktionen” . At the end of 2012, the term “Akk!” Was shortlisted for the youth word of the year . In the course of a vote on the website of the Langenscheidt publishing group, the word took first place. Since the jury members were not aware of "Akk!", Which they attributed to a local spread of the term, the expression " YOLO " was chosen as the youth word of the year. From April 13th to April 28th, 2013 the trio completed another tour entitled “Touching bread rolls is not a hygiene fiasco”. This included appearances in fourteen cities.

On September 26, 2014, the fourth album Boomshakkalakka was released , which reached number 1 in the German album charts in the week of publication , making it the group's first number one album. It has sold over 40,000 times.

In May 2016 it was announced that work on the new album Mikrokosmos had been completed and that it should be released on July 1st, 2016. At the same time it was announced that Keule would leave the group to focus more on private matters. Therefore, only Schneisinger and Mike can be heard on the album. The album again reached the top of the German charts. The accompanying live tour began in October 2016 and leads through 16 German cities.

On May 27, 2016, Holland released the first single from Mikrokosmos . The second single Holz followed on July 1, 2016 and was awarded a platinum record in Germany for over 400,000 units sold .

At Andreas Gabalier's MTV Unplugged concert in 2017, the 257ers could be heard as guest musicians on the song Hulapalu .

On May 3, 2019, the sixth studio album Alpaka was released, which reached number 16 in the charts.

Soon after, on July 25, 2019, the single Abracadabra was released , on which Keule could suddenly be heard again. The seventh studio album of the same name, Abrakadabra , was released on November 1, 2019 and reached number 19 in the charts.
