Boomshakkalakka is the fourth album by the German hip-hop trio 257ers . It was released on September 26, 2014 via the Düsseldorf label Selfmade Records . It is distributed by the Universal Music Group .

Emergence

The name of the album has no deeper meaning, the 257ers were looking for a word that sticks and fits their music. There should be no red thread on Boomshakkalakka , but many "colorful threads". The pieces were initially created as raw recordings in the 257ers own studio in Essen-Kupferdreh . The songs were later professionally recorded in the studio of hip-hop producer Koree.

The piece Gruppenzwang was created in collaboration with rusk and Serdar Somuncu , who then appears under the name T. In 2013, zwieback and Somuncu released their album Wir Zwei . This did not promise the 257ers " rap technical ", but with regard to the " comedy aspects ". The members stated that they were mainly fans of Somuncu's cabaret performances. Impressions of the studio recordings with Somuncu were published in the form of a video. The song Irgendwo in Vegas was recorded together with hip-hop musician Alligatoah . Alligatoah was already featured on the trio's previous album HRNSHN with Über alle Berge . According to the 257ers, Somewhere in Vegas is the " logical continuation of 'Across the Mountains' ".

criticism

Press photo of the trio

The e-zine Laut.de rated the album with two out of a possible five points. From the editor's point of view, every production on the publication sounds “like the cheapest of all cheap plastic sounds . “In addition, all pieces“ always follow the same knitting pattern ”, which results in a“ certain monotony ”. In contrast, Fromm praised the lectures of the three rappers, who “ flow like torrents. “The hooklines are also highlighted positively . For the most part, these “ go into the ear without resistance and grow into true mutant worms. "In terms of content, the listener can expect" infantile [r] to [...] pubertal [r] fecal humor, booze, party, drugs, [...] happy thug attitude and penetrating pecking. " Somewhere in Vegas is an exception to this, as it even tells a story " for a change .

On their album, the 257ers “completely dedicated themselves to nonsense” and offered a “mixture of carnival, big break and pill trip humor” that was “not for everyone”, noted the music critic from Fritz rbb . Above all, the album is too long: “21 songs are too many. At some point everything just goes in here and out again ... Artists whose message is limited to two and a half slogans need a double album just as much as El Arenal needs a reading café. "The Weser-Kurier judged the album:" Somewhere between Eurotrash and dubstep elements make up a little bit of hip-hop, but that's not what the 257ers are about anyway. The faecal humor wears off relatively quickly over the length of the album, but you can hardly defend yourself against the catchy choruses that cavort on 'Boomshakkalakka'. ”The album is a“ collection of pubescent texts ”with“ thundering beats ”.
