Weekend (born July 18, 1987 in Gelsenkirchen ; real name Christoph Wiegand ) is a German rapper . He was best known for his two participations in the video battle tournament ( VBT for short ) in 2011 and its Splash! Edition in 2012, from which he emerged as the winner.

Career

Weekend started listening to rap in 2001 when the first Creutzfeld & Jakob album was released. This was followed by Kool Savas , Spontan and SD , which he also counts as one of his influences. According to its own information, Weekend started rapping in late 2004 and early 2005. In May 2007 he released the Assi EP together with Max Miles , but this received relatively little attention. It was made available for free download. In 2009 his album Fans sucht was released , which he also released for free. In 2011 he took part in the fifth edition of the video battle tournament. He was able to get to the final over nine opponents to defeat Tamo-Flage there with 43:37 points. In addition to the prize money, he won an appearance at the Mile of Style. In 2012, he decided to take part in the first Splash! Edition of the tournament. He was also able to win this tournament after four rounds, after defeating BattleBoi Basti 13: 9 in the final, which won him an appearance at Splash . In the following months, Weekend published a few more songs, such as Das Splash (with BattleBoi Basti) or I want the JUICE cover , which, however, were not released as a single. Weekend was again represented as an artist at Splash 2013.

In July 2013, Weekend signed a contract with Chimperator Productions . This was announced by Weekends via the freetrack "Hi Chimperator". A short time later, the label's release of his first album was announced. It is called the weekend rapper and was available from August 30, 2013. Three songs were released beforehand , Geheime CD (as part of the Shut Up series), Schatz, du Arschloch and FCKWKND . From October to November 2013 Weekend went on its first tour “Every day weekend” together with Persteasy and FiST.

Weekends' second album, Für immer Wochenende , was released on April 24, 2015 and reached number 1 in the German charts. In the same year his third album Music for Those Who Don't Think About Chimperator was released.

Private life

Weekend worked as a social worker in civil life . This was emphasized during the VBT and in various interviews. He worked in Gelsenkirchen at the youth welfare office.
