SDiddy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SDiddy (born January 14, 1981 in Cologne ; real name Stefan Duschl ), also S.Diddy , formerly also SD , is a former German rapper . SDiddy is best known from his time at the Optik Records label founded by Kool Savas and at Eko Freshs' label German Dream .

Career

Early years

SDiddy was born in Cologne and grew up there. In his youth he played various instruments and mainly listened to hip hop from the United States. He started rapping at the age of 14: In 1995 a friend brought him a mixtape with hip-hop songs during the school summer holidays , which he said he knew by heart after two weeks. Then he began to freestyle. At the time, he called himself Fuckin Flowin SD . In 1998 he founded, together with DJ Amir, MC Spontan , Rano and Laas Unltd. the Stammtisch group . But apart from a mixtape produced by DJ Amir in 1998 and a split EP with Spontan, the formation did not release an album. The group separated a short time later.

Optik Records and Beef

Due to his complex and creative rhyming style, Kool Savas became aware of him and MC Spontan and signed both of them to his label Optik Records . There he released his EP Wie es geht in 2003 . In 2004 his next EP followed, this time called Dirrrty and on which Kool Savas is featured on the song Tat Tag . Due to internal disputes, however, SDiddy separated after the release of his second EP from Optik Records. Together with Eko Fresh and Summer Cem , which also left Optik Records, SDiddy released the song The Punishment , on which all performers accuse Kool Savas of being underhanded. After the album cover of SDiddy's EP Dirrrty was torn up on Kool Savas' video for the Eko Fresh Diss The Judgment , he dissed Kool Savas on the song The Debit . He also had beef with raptile in the meantime . He later hired, together with MC Spontan, who also left Optik Records a little later, with German Shepherd . He remained in close contact with Eko Fresh and participated in their unreleased mixtape Fick Your Story , which was to be a response to the mixtape John Bello Story published by Kool Savas and Optik Records . On the mixtape Fick still your story , later published by ersguterjunge , SDiddy was on the songs Jetzt there's Streit and Aus der Weg with. After a short time he left German Shepherd and switched to German Dream.

German dream

At German Dream, he took part in various albums by the artists who were under contract with the label, but also worked for a moving company on the side. In 2007 he had an accident and fell seven meters, as a result of which he broke his knee and pelvis. During this time, motivated by his accident and the desire to change his life, he began to write lyrics for his first studio album, which was released on January 11, 2008 and whose title was 21 grams . The album was received positively by critics, although it could not make it into the German album charts . SDiddy's pun and his innovative way of rapping were particularly praised. He has been compared several times with the American rapper Eminem .

End of career in 2008 and announcement of a new EP in 2010

After his debut album things got surprisingly quiet around SDiddy and he appeared less and less. Finally, in 2008 he announced the end of his career via the German Dream Forum. The reason he gave was that a “new chapter” was beginning in his life and that the step to end his career had not been easy for him.

At the beginning of 2010 he spoke up again. On his blog in MySpace he announced that he was being looked after by new management and that he was working on a new EP, which will be the continuation of his second EP Dirrrty . However, the EP has not been released to this day.

Meaning of the pseudonym

At the beginning of his career he called himself SD, an abbreviation of his real name Stefan Duschl. He and his friends came to SDiddy or S.Diddy under the impression of Sean Combs , who at the time was experimenting with his name "Puff Daddy" and called himself P.Diddy or Diddy. The pseudonym came from a beer whim and was introduced by DJ Brocke from Too Strong . The name change became official with the album released in 2008.

Music genre

S.Diddy is described in retrospect as a rapper with a unique flow. The name Eminem is often used as a comparison . Its powerful flow, with a few double-time passages, was mainly created in freestyle and was therefore characterized by a certain amount of chaos. Due to the way it was created, S.Diddy mainly used short rhyming words, but managed to mix the rhymes in such a way that a statement later formed from the initially confused lines. His image was based on a cracked psyche, eccentricity and excessive drug use. His texts are characterized by rabble and disrespect for the German celebrity scene, but also for other rappers. However, he also had emotional lyrics, so he addressed the subject of suicide on When he goes , a rarity in hip-hop at the time.
