Creutzfeld & Jakob is a German hip-hop formation from the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia . Originally the group consisted of Philipp Dammann and Evangelos Polichronidis . Sebastian Edler joined as a live DJ and later also as a producer of individual tracks, and Till Grönemeyer was there from 1999 to 2004. The name is an allusion to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease or its first description.
history
The band from Witten became known in the underground rap scene of the Ruhr area through the music single "Partner" Part 1 + 2, released in 1999 under the label Put Da Needle To Da Records , for which a music video can also be seen in the relevant programs of the relevant music television stations was.
While the beats were initially produced by STF member Peter Sreckovic (Fast Forward) and Flipstar themselves , Till Tomorrow and DJ Edler were added in 2000 for the group's debut album , God's work and Creutzfeld's contribution , to underlay the spoken vocals . Especially the song "Fehdehandschuh" (produced by Dj Funky Chris), on which the then relatively unknown rapper Kool Savas played, contributed to the success of the album (number 35 in the official German album charts / sold 45,000 records).
In 2003, after the separation from the Put da Needle to da Records label, the second album 2 Mann gegen den Rest followed , as well as the single Heut Nacht on Universal Music . The second album was based both technically and lyrically more on American hip-hop. The album reached number 81 in the German longplay hit list and the contract with Universal Music did not last long. So it came to a break with the label after a short time after the band members in an interview with Mixery Raw Deluxe specifically expressed allegations against the promotional work of Universal. Shortly afterwards, Till Tomorrow got out. After the split, Flipstar founded the Selfmade Records label with rapper Slick One in 2004 .
On January 9, 2010, Creutzfeld & Jakob performed at the opening ceremony for the Ruhr 2010 in Essen with the title No beautiful land 2010 , which was newly produced with the help of Jürgen Grimm and Till Tomorrow . WDR broadcast the celebrations live.
Creutzfeld & Jakob are semi-professional today with only a few appearances each year.
Career history of the members
- Evangelos Polichronidis is of Greek descent and grew up in Witten . He attended the municipal Schiller-Gymnasium in Witten. As a Lakmann , he was signed to the Assazeen Records label, founded by rapper Ercandize, and released his first mixtape All-In in November 2007 . The long player contains 27 tracks, including five hidden and bonus tracks, with features by Ercandize and sister Ioanna Polichronidis, who appears under her stage name JayLa . At the beginning of 2013 he released the album 2 Gramm against Stress as Lakmann One on the Siegener label Eartouch . The title is a reference to the last C&J album 2 Man Against the Rest .
- Philipp Dammann has now studied medicine and is now working as a neurosurgeon at the Essen University Hospital.
- Sebastian Edler is still active as DJ Edel Dawg in the Bunkerwelt DJ team and supports Lakmann and Flipstar in their occasional appearances as a live DJ.
