marketing

Free songs

On February 22, 2011 Favorite published the title Obama for free . In this he attacks the manager of Selfmade Records Slick One. He almost exclusively takes care of the marketing of the rapper Kollegah and treats Favorite badly. Favorite attributes his contract signing to the label to youthful naivete. In the chorus, the rapper explains that Slick One is not his friend, but a " hypocrite " like Barack Obama . He also imitates the voice of his superior in a stanza. The song led to the assumption that after the rappers Shiml and Casper , Favorite could also have separated from Selfmade Records . However, this was invalidated by the announcement of the album and the promotion of the title on the record company's homepage. When asked about the song, Favorite stated that he was " actually quite satisfied " with his record company. In the past there were also critical situations with Slick One, which Favorite attributes to the different characters. In relation to his work situation, harmony is important, whereas the " machine " does not work for him.

Another insight into the album was given by the publication of a snippet . On April 22nd, the compilation of parts of the songs on the album was posted on the Internet.

Videos

In mid-March, Kalt was released, the first video version of an album title. This was developed by the video production company KMXmedia . On April 15, 2011 a so-called “split video” followed for the pieces Nirvana and FAV 2011 . All the shit was implemented as a third video. Shortly before the album was released, a video for Ne Pille followed . A clip was also shot for the bonus title In Town .

tour

On the day the album was released, Favorite began a concert tour. He does this together with the rapper Kaas , whose solo album Love, Sex and Twilight Zone was also released on May 6, 2011. The tour started under the title “ Favorite vs. KAAS Tour 2011 "with a concert in Stuttgart and ends after nine dates with a performance in Trier on May 15, 2011.

illustration

Logo of the RAF

Favorite can be seen on the cover of the album. He holds up a sign that reads “ Christoph Alex has been a prisoner for 25 years ”. The picture alludes to the photos of the former West German employer president Hanns Martin Schleyer , which were taken in the course of his kidnapping by members of the Red Army faction . In the background of the cover you can also see the Red Star with a Heckler & Koch MP5 in the center , which served as the RAF logo. The letters “RAF” have been replaced by “FAV” on the album cover.

Favorite stated in an interview that the cover design should not have any political message and that there was no direct connection with the RAF. The idea behind the picture is that Favorite is stuck in Christoph Alex and wants to break out. The reference to the RAF is only a “ provocative allusion. "

reception

success

Favorite was able to reach number 4 in the German album charts with Christoph Alex . It was the rapper's greatest success to date. At least 20,000 units have been sold. The album entered the Austrian charts at position 34. In Switzerland, too, it was able to position itself in the album charts at number 72. After a week in the sales charts in Austria and Switzerland, the album got out again. Christoph Alex sold more than 20,000 times.

criticism

In a rating written by Dani Fromm for the Laut.de e-zine , Christoph Alex received three out of a possible five points. Favorites' presentation is praised as fluent. His frequently used singing has “ increased significantly. “Fromm expresses negative criticism about the background music from Rizbo. From the editor's point of view, this does not belong to the “ first league of beatmakers in this country. “The productions of the other musicians involved are not varied either. The gastrappers don't leave a lasting impression on Fromm either. Exceptions are Sahin, who makes a negative contribution " disgustingly languishing ", as well as " a wonderfully crazy " King Orgasmus One and Carolin Kebekus. Fromm praises the humor in Favorites. In terms of content, however, the album offers little and the rapper falls short of his possibilities with his third album.

The website Rap.de rated Christoph Alex positively in a review. If the listener shares Favorite's humor, the album has a high “ entertainment factor ”. His way of speaking has also evolved since his first publications and is varied due to the frequent use of " Sing-Flows ". When it comes to the background music, Vizir's contributions, which have an “ anachronistic sound ”, are particularly praised . The small number of guest musicians is also praised. In summary, Christoph Alex is an album that fans of the music genre cannot ignore.

The hip-hop magazine Juice rated Christoph Alex with four out of a possible six “crowns”. From the point of view of the editor Sherin Kürten, Favorite largely takes up “well -tried topics ”. Godless and blind , which are textually impressive and show a “ mature artist ” , are positively emphasized . Furthermore, Christoph Alex is the rapper's most musical album, despite some negatively rated beats. Favorite tries to write " complete songs " and to give the publication a common thread. Kürten calls into question the necessity and sensibility of using such a number of tracks for the album. This is linked to a criticism of Amazon and iTunes , through which the “ more is more ” philosophy is being forced. In summary, Favorite showed with a successful chart placement and the presentation of new " pages of his artist persona " that he had done a lot right.
