Rapping can be fatal is a music album by German rappers Favorite and Jason. It was released on October 7, 2005 as the second release by the Düsseldorf label Selfmade Records . For the Essen favorite, rapping can be fatal is the debut album.

background

After founding the independent label Selfmade Records in 2004, Favorite was the first artist to be signed. Jason and Favorite, who both come from the Borbeck district of Essen , already knew each other at that time and had already recorded songs together. In April 2005, Schwarzes Gold was the first release on the new label. With Ruhrpott 4 Life by Favorite and Ich Aim auf Bizz by Jason, the sampler contains a solo contribution from both Essenes. The productions of the pieces on the album were mainly contributed by Rizbo, who like Favorite is under contract with Selfmade Records . criticism

Rapping can be fatal was awarded four out of a possible five rating points by the Laut.de e-zine . In the review by the editor Philipp Gässlein it is emphasized that Favorite and Jason combine “proper technology and a flow that is fun with perfect interaction”. The themes of the titles are similar, but they are positively received by Gässlein due to the humorous exaggerations. In conclusion, the editor points out that the texts of the mixtape for a debut album have already been performed professionally and praises the productions by Rizbo.

The editors of the Rap.de website describe the album as a successful debut by the two Essen rappers. Nevertheless, rapping can be deadly a matter of taste, so that "people [s] who can't do anything with aggressive rap [...] this LP [...] cannot be recommended". The album would be received positively, however, music listeners who like the style of battle rap.

The German hip-hop magazine Juice rated the collaboration album with three and a half of a possible six "crowns". Favorite in particular is praised by the Juice editorial team for its "precise [n] flow", its "distinctive voice" and its "anarchic [...] mentality". Jason, however, does not achieve the talent of the self-made artist. With the exception of the beat for With Mic or Without , Rizbo's productions are rated average. This also applies to the hooklines performed by Favorite and Jason .
